2. I hate it when people nag about how a movie is NOT like the book.
3. Brits claiming their version of a series was FAR more better than the American.
4. We're all just floating in this fishbowl we call 'me', no chance of getting further beyond that. Imagination is a strong distorter of perspective, it can make us believe just anything. A wish at your command.

Outback Truckers (2012)
Mostly set to dramatically enhance the troubles of outback truckers.
A lot of the events are just set on purpose but it shows the immense emptiness of Australia that may seem depressing to some but enlightening to me. The immense emptiness that has some similarities of the African Sahara. Something to make you feel very small...
Varen is fijner dan je denkt (1958)
Zeefje waar ben je gebleven....
This series is amongst the first I remember from Dutch television back in the '50s. The song I remember most was "Zeefje waar ben je gebleven", as much as "Zeefje (a name) where have you gone". Zeefje was one of the main characters in the series. Don't look for deeper meanings, series in those days were mainly about archetypes. My grandmother used to sing that song in her moods when we came to look at Wednesday's television afternoon for children. We didn't have a TV ourselves back then; we (my sister and I) always went to her place to watch so my grandma could spoil us with fried potatoes, candy and self-made orange popsicles. Many, later known as famous, Dutch actors featured in that series but that's the story behind many of these series. Thinking back and trying to recall what's been done there I must say it's minimal, one camera recording all live is not a perfect condition for a perfect delivery but it was the beginning... How to compare that to nowadays series or movies is impossible, you're bound to put the bar too high to remain objective. So what are the instruments by which you can measure the validity of a series like that? Your guts, it's what left behind in your memory stripped of the need to compare but filled with the rather subjective impact the series made. Enough said.
Dreamland (2006)
White trash inside out
This is one of those movies that chills the heat out of your bones. It depicts a world in which white trash circles within its own boundaries and can't seem to escape from it. It's a movie about feelings and how to handle them in your daily business. Two young girls seem to be stuck in a provisionary trailer park called "Dreamland", those two girls only have themselves to cling to until a new family moves in, one of the new members is a college boy that aims at being a star at pro-basketball at a the local club. He's just a jerk with little prospects but he impresses both girls and hooks up with the one who has MS and is due to die soon. Maybe it's his compassion, that is not clear, she's the most beautiful of the two (not to my opinion), well if you like big breasts then maybe. However, the relation those two girls had, after the boy arrived deteriorates; for the girl with MS spends all of her time on him (who doesn't recognize that?) so the two girls don't have these long hours together reminiscing about their future anymore. But it's about more than that, it's about loyalty, caring for the ones next to you without consent, longing for an escape to break the inevitable circle of life. Despite some cheap scenes this movie is a desolate cry for help to the humans next to you, a solemn oath to the ones closest to you.
