The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
wow is really all i can say
well what can be said about this movie that hasn't been said. This movie is the benchmark for me, it is the best movie I've seen in my life (although i am only 17) but I'm sure it will be for a while. the only thing is Andy Serkis is credited as playing gollum in this movie, but he actually wasn't in it, the gollum in this is not played by andy serkis (just for the record i am running this info off the SEE DVD edition of the so i could be wrong).
everything in this movie works, the acting is outstanding, all actors are so passionate about this that they really did do the best they could and it really shows. Jackson, Boyens and Walsh are an excellent team in managing to create what has been dubbed by tolkien himself as "an unfilmable book". the locations are beautiful and do the book no injustice. it really is one of the best films of all time.
He Died with a Felafel in His Hand (2001)
great film
i am an Australian and am a fan of Australian films and 'he died with a felafel in his hand' is by no means a let down. few films leave me in the state which this film did, the first time i saw it was on commercial television and missed the first half hour, didn't really intend on watching the whole movie but by the end i couldn't understand why i felt so moved by this film. i hired it the next day, after watching it all the way through, at the end i still had the same feeling as i did the night before, i thought Noah Taylor was great as was Emily Hamilton, but also the minor characters, flip and all the other house mates Danny had stayed with added both depth and comic relief to the film.
if your thinking of seeing this movie i highly suggest you do, I've recommended this to all my friends, I'm a teenager so to get a group of pubescent teenagers through a movie with no college humor or breasts must mean the film has something going for it which appeals to audiences.
King Arthur (2004)
good film, trust me lol
i heard so many people bag this film, so when i got it i wasn't really pumped but as soon as they got to the roman family's house in the north i realized that this movie actually had a really good story going, it was visually very good and the acting was good as well. The movie just kept growing, introducing Guinevere (not sure of the spelling in that) the fight scene on the ice (so good) and ultimately the battle at Badon hill with the WOADS against the Saxons. at the end i just felt like going into battle and living in the English country side, not many films make me want to do that, lol so what I'm really trying to say is, if you haven't seen this movie on the basis that you hear bad things from reviewers or friends, go out on a limb, hire the extended edition and watch it, one of my favourite movies of the year.
