Sneak Preview: 27 Dresses
27 December 2007
On Thursday, December 27, my friends and I went to the sneak preview of "27 Dresses". At first, I wasn't excited to see it because I thought it would be just another cheesy romantic comedy, "chick-flick" if you will. I was wrong. "27 Dresses" was a romantic comedy everyone could enjoy. That's right! I said EVERYONE (including guys).

Katherine Heigl is great in the film as Jane, the optimistic bridesmaid who wants a shot of love for herself someday and feels the the 27 bridesmaid dresses she keeps in her closet is a calling that its time for her to get a dress of a different kind.

Judy Greer, who's always "the best friend" in the movies, is very comical and sassy as Katherine's friend Casey. At least she knows what she wants, but she's very compassionate and supportive to Jane throughout the film.

One person, though, that I think stood out in this film, was James Marsden. I've always seen him in action movies ("X-Men" series and "Superman Returns) as a minor or supporting character, but I think that he made the male lead of Kevin his own. Although he gets on Jane's nerves half the time, he always tends to put on a smile on her face because she knows that he's trying to get her to let go of the past and move on to a possible future where her big day might come. Kevin's the guy you would want to confide in if something's troubling you or if you need to dance to an Elton John song to get your groove back.

If you should see any movie this new year, make a date with "27 Dresses". You'll be happy that you did.

Enjoyable movie
23 December 2007
I really enjoyed this movie on many levels. So nice to see a movie that is character driven instead of car chases, physical mutilation, loud music, special effects, stunts, and over the top people that you really don't care about. I liked the story line and how the lead character wrestled with his dilemma. The supporting cast was funny, touching and true to life. Enjoyable film, not just for Christmas. The scenery was beautiful and the camera work was as if it were filmed from the viewers sight line. The story moved along seamlessly and convincingly. The auditions for the Nativity were priceless, so funny. My heart went out to the both priests as they were both good men trying to do what they thought was right.

I liked it
3 August 2007
I really thought "Bourne Ultimatum" was going to be quick and dull, but it actually was really good, and I think everything was done well at a good pace and the storyline was easy to follow. I really liked the action of the story as well, especially the tense moments that Matt Damon and Julie Stiles had to face, which kept me in my seat, thinking "will they make it"? Even Joan Allen and David Strathairn were great, but Strathairn was a villain you would love to hate because he's a double-crossing bastard. Hehe. I think this film puts an excellent conclusion to a trilogy, for where "Identity" began a search for himself, to the "Ultimatum" of discovery.

Saw III (2006)

The Last Saw Is Always The Hardest
27 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I've just got out of an employee screening of "Saw III", and all I can say is "damn!" This movie COMPLETELY out does its previous ones. This film reveals just about everything about the whole Saw trilogy, up to its very beginning. In great and in-depth details of Jigsaws work makes the audience understand more of how and why he does his "games". This is why "Saw III" is the best: The story and plot was all together with interesting twists from left to right, the characters were believable in the face of their death, and the ending, the ending that you keep you puzzled for the rest of your life, you'll not know what hit you. If you are going to see any movie this Halloween, definitely submit your arms and legs to the third Saw. 8/10.

A Grudge Not Worth Witnessing
13 October 2006
I just got home from a screening of "The Grudge 2", and all I can say about this film is "what the hell was that?". I know some people are big fans of Japanese horror films, but this film doesn't even try to impress, scare, or intrigue. The story is sloppy, all the scary moments are dull, and there are cheesy moments that should have been eliminated in the early stages of this films script. Also, the characters in the film don't even try to act the part of the scared to death victim. No attempt to try to outrun the villain. It's almost as if they are waiting to be taken. Absolutely stupid though and course of action from the characters.

In conclusion, "The Grudge 2" is not worth your time.

"Superman Returns" With Poise
18 August 2006
"Superman Returns" is more than just a fun movie-going experience, its a memorable film to remind young and old that The Man of Steel has returned and is not going anywhere. Brandon Routh is amazing as Clark Kent/Superman. I tend to ignore the fact he's the look-alike of Christopher Reeve and see him as someone who truly is Superman of the new millennium. Kate Bosworth is great as Lois Lane, but I have to admit I don't like the fact that the writer's made her character to appear as a "skanky-ho". Kate must had to have drawn the line somewhere about this, but she's great as Superman's leading Lady. Kevin Spacy as Lex Luther is to what Hitler as Dictator: pure evil. Kevin is a man you never want to run into (especially in a dark alley) and I really like the fact that he's not comical in this one like Gene Hackman was. Overall, the "Return" is just the beginning. What's to happen next is something better.

It wasn't that bad
18 August 2006
I got to attend a 10:00pm screening of "Snakes on a Plane", and I must say it wasn't that bad. Of course, there were people who were skeptic about the whole movie, but I was surprised to leave the theater satisfied with the movie. (on a level). Yes, there are times where the snake attacks are too much and sights you wish you never see, but it's actually fun to watch as well. My advice, if your looking for a film that guarantees thrills, or just looking for a good time, I recommend "Snakes on a Plane". To close my review, as Samuel L. Jackson says: "I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking airplane!" 6/10

North & South (2004)

What a beautiful film! Loved it!
4 January 2006
I enjoyed all the various contrasts in this mini series. North vs. South; differences as to customs and manners between the two; the climates; the color of the two cities were drastically different. I noticed that Margaret dressed in grays and browns in Milton. One of the times she dressed colorfully in Milton was when she put her arms around him to try to protect him. I enjoyed this immensely and have watched it several times. I had read about it in a sale paper from a local bookstore. It sounded interesting and I read reviews at IMDb. I'm so glad I did! It was so romantic. Thanks to all of you I have a gem in my collection.
