The Dark Knight (2008)
The Dark Night - this movie will be hard to top
I was entranced by this film and all the actors/characters...it is truly a masterpiece. I was very impressed by Christian Bale's batman; he really made batman a "real" man with deep levels of personality and conflicts of his own, and especially since he was not perfect as depicted in other batman films. It does not hurt that he is super good-looking either. Now for Heath Ledger as the Joker...yikes, he was very disturbing, because not only is he viciously evil, but he enjoys it....the joker is twisted beyond repair and severely clever using his powers to warp people into following his lead and become evil themselves before they can realize it. The joker unnerved me tremendously - I was more afraid of him than that chainsaw guy, because he was so fearless himself there would be no way to predict his next move. Heath Ledger was a pretty fearless actor too in order to open himself up to such a level of evil...to give such control over to it....I've never seen an actor "go that far" yet. All in all the story is mesmerizing and I would see it again & again as there are plenty of clues to the nature of everyday humans reflecting back at us. One of my favorite lines is when batman says "you were so good, that he needed to know if you could fall". It hit me like a ton of bricks, because sometimes the best of people are attacked by evil so much that they wonder why, and I got it - evil only focuses on the good in order to destroy it. I have to see the movie again in order to get more information and it seems there is something for everyone to learn here - you have to see it yourself. I loved it for many reasons.
Fishing with Tink n Earl (2004)
This is cute...really cute!
If you know anything about fishing, you will know these guys know nothing about fishing!!! That is the charm - these guys profess to be experts & qualified to teach you everything they do not know! From the dialouge to the actual film footage - you will catch on to the hilarious mis-adventure of these haphazerd fisherman wannabes. The film footage is hysterical as these men try to convince you of their qualifications as they swing around in circles, not knowing they are going nowhere fast! The little spiffs between Tink & Earl are also very funny as they blame each other for the flubs in the program - it is a scream!!! Not to mention Tink's girlfriend "becky" who would make any man afraid to come home at night. This piece is a real treat! Sandy O'Brien .
The Death of Poe (2006)
A Great Artistic Piece!
I saw the movie at "The Charles Theatre" and it was excellent! Mark Redfield made "Poe" come to life, and I connected with the character sharing his pain and it is so unfortunate that some artists only get appreciated after their death. The movie depicted the struggle this incredible talent went through in order to share his vision with the world - just heartbreaking, but a pleasure to be a part of. All of the acting was superb - by everyone involved! It was intense and captivating...I was lost in the story. I truly enjoyed this piece of art work and it was so original - it should be viewed by everyone, but especially as an educational piece for students really learning not only about artists, but how tough it is to be recognized as an artist, and that amazing talent can be virtually dismissed if it is ahead of its time! Edgar Allen Poe had a special gift to "see" into the future and connect with a reality that most of us do not understand...what a shame he did not know his affect on people! Lets hope that the artists of today do not have to suffer that same abandonment! In order to appreciate true original creativity, you may need to look outside the Hollywood of the moment. No Longer My Twin (2002)
Negative people have no value
What is it with this mystery critic with the obsession with Rob Christie? This same man (or unidentified as either sex) keeps bashing other people's efforts to do something creative and different with their talent & time. No Longer My Twin was Christie's first feature film and as with most people, you try and you learn. The comments made by this person are neither constructive or valuable - he does not offer any kind of useful information - only forcing his premature, inadequate, uneducated, vengeful, trivial OPINION on everyone else. Insult slinging is juvenile and not a talent in itself - just another irritant. Who needs more aggravation in their lives? Nobody! So, Mr. Negativity man, just open another bag of chips over your keyboard and try to find someone over the internet who might actually want to hear from your sorry self! No Longer My Twin is no blockbuster, but the idea was interesting and with some work, could be salvaged & re-shot with the appropriate cast & crew. Mr. Christie still has a chance to do a wonderful feature film someday, because he will not let anyone destroy his vision; perseverance, determination, and having an open mind are key attributes in this business, and this is something we could all benefit by following this example. Bashing people and creativity is something that no one is looking for, so while Mr. Negativity alienates the rest of the world from himself, the rest of us will keep moving forward careful of who we choose to associate with as we all like jumping on the moving train to positivity!!! The Last Mango (2006)
I would watch this movie again
I saw the Last Mango, and thought is was John Doyle's best work yet and it really looked like "film". My favorite character was the Greaseman of course, because he was very funny & I love comedy. The acting was great from everyone, but my other favorites were Gypsy (in the beginning when she is whispering in the car, I got chills & I do not spook that easily), Paul Sulsky ( the neurotic sugar fidgety),Heidi (the murder victim by the girlfriend), Connie (the murderess), the gun toting killer girl, and John Ruckman ( the upset driver who punches redhead murderess). I was really entertained and did start caring about these people - I got involved in the story which means the director & all the actors did their jobs. There were some scenes that seemed not necessary & just thrown in there, but as a whole, I would definitely see the movie again.

Franky's Heaven (2004)
Franky's
This movie was very up-lifting and had a strong message...no matter how bad your life is, you do not need to cheat, rob, or deceive others in order to get-ahead. Franky was dying (and did not want to), but he would not cheat that single mother out of her chance for life in order to save his own. It was sad, it was sweet and the acting was superb by all characters - especially Don Austin as Franky. I know him personally & he went all out on Franky. And another message for all of us with significant other's...don't forget what is special about them or to them, because one day they will be gone... This movie was Joe Oferrell's first & it was just wonderful. He is a very talented script writer & director...I would love to work with him some day.

Shallow Deep (2002)
In response to Mr. or Mrs. Garbage Speaker
Excuse me, but I was an actress on the film Shallow Deep & I'll have you know that some of the actors were only given two takes at the most in order to capture the moment, because other actors were given hours of preferential treatment. Morale was down in addition to added pressure. I agree that the movie was not good, but why blame the actors? The script in some cases was so damn redundant, that there was no way to connect with the character unless to pretend she/he was brain-dead. AND two of us were going through a real-life break-up that put the brakes on any character emotion from the start. (I know to be professional, you need to put your real emotions to the side, but that is easier said than done, we are still human & we were in each other's face while we are trying to HEAL!) It's easy to just spit out all kind of insults, I am pretty good at it myself, & even though you do not care, I just had to speak my mind & educate you on the "behind the scenes" crap that no one takes into consideration!!!
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (2002)
Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde is a must see!!!
I really enjoyed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for the acting ability, the set design, costumes, the story!!! Basically everything and I do believe it was done on very little to NO budget which is really impressive. It transfixed you into a different time era and from the first few minutes you know you are hooked. It is not the kind of movie that you feel like you can predict how it will turn out, I was always interested in what would happen next. I would love to work with the director Mark Redfield, I think I could learn a lot from him - he was the most astonishing actor. This movie is a real treat and you melt into the story completely. You will not be disappointed!!!
