Encore! (2019)
Needs an actual host, maybe Kristen Bell too busy for this
I have watched 5 of these so far. I can identify with most people on this show. Such a great thing how they have gone back to do an encore of their school production. It's more than just redoing a school production, there is alot of catching up, working out issues as they go. 5 days such a big thing to pull off in that time. Im sure it must have quite an impact on them going forward.
My only gripe with this show is Kristen Bell, 1minute at the beginning and so far appearing once to see one of the shows, the very first one- it was great, just a shame they didn't stick with that, having her along for some of the journey. Popping up once or twice each episode. Otherwise someone else could have done the host role. it's a bit jarring having different directors etc be good for the audience to at least have continuity with a host that's in all or most of them along for the journey.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Now One of my favourite Star Wars movies
I tend to try to let go of expectations and just enjoy movies for what they are. I try to Go in with an open mind.
I had seen the trailers. Read a couple of non spoiler reviews most of which were mixed.
I was honestly blown away by this movie.
I was transported away to different planets, it felt like i was part of this wild ride.
Absolutely loved this movie, really keen to see it again.
Well acted. Big shoes to full, I think it was done as well as it could be. Looked like a huge team collaborative effort.
The actors were awesome.
I made one or two groans from lines of dialogue from a robot character. Other than that most jokes worked well.
The movie was a visual feast. The creatures and all of the designs awesome, so much detail.
It was fun it was funny and it was serious in parts.
There was some violence. My brother enjoyed the movie but says he won't let his son watch until he is 10.
a good ballanced movie and like I said one wild ride from beginning to end.
The Brokenwood Mysteries (2014)
Love this show
At first I was skeptical of Brokenwood mysteries. I enjoy murder mysteries, I'm quite fussy. Yes it seems to have some similarities with Midsommer murders, however this show has a distinctively kiwi feel to it. The writers and actors have managed to incorporate a good amount of humor without overshadowing the mysteries. I thought it might put me off as there are a lot of ex shortland street actors in this show, it hasn't.
Worth a watch if you enjoy murder mysteries. This show is a breath of fresh air for NZ TV, amongst some very stale offerings. A worthy recipient of NZ on air funding. I hope this show will be a good spring board for emerging actors. Great choice of characters and actors.
Midsommer murders can sometimes get confusing and require a lot of concentration to follow. The 3 episodes I have seen on Brokenwood have been very well put together, kept me guessing and taken me along for the ride with out loosing me on the way.
I have read some scathing unfair reviews online. I have talked to several people of various ages who have had nothing but positive comments about this show. I am keen to see more of this show and really hope there will be many more seasons. I would like to see it get a good following overseas also.
