Cringeworthy and banal with terrible dialogue and poor acting
16 April 2023
This is just one more supernatural nonsense films/series that the world has already seen too much of.

Ridiculous dialog, poor acting, and a complete lack of believable emotions contribute to a drama for children and the weak of mind.

It's a sorry mix of The Golden Compass, Harry Potter and Game of Thrones but with far more stupid outbursts of deep and distorted "voices".

Banalities queue up one after the other and the number of times words such as "life", "death", "strong", "demon" are repeated is mind boggling.

Unfortunately I have had to endure this crap for several Sundays on end. I would never recommend others to go through the same.

They couldn't even get a headline right
20 May 2022
An emblematic example of the lack of quality of this film is when the main character, Theo, looks at a Danish newspaper clipping his father had saved showing how proud he was of his son getting two Michelin stars for his restaurant in Denmark. The headline spells "stars" incorrectly; it says "sjerner" instead of "stjerner".

Depressingly accurate
25 December 2021
This film is no comedy. It's a depressingly accurate description both of large parts of humanity kept numb and dumb by TV and celebrity news, of political denial of facts and a depressing reminder of the Trump White House in its realistic depiction of the social media president & family. You sit for a good two hours waiting for the inevitable end and finding pleasure only when it finally arrives.

A true person depicted on a giant lie
24 May 2021
Mary Anning was not a lesbian, so why make her one? If you want to make a historic film about a remarkable woman but ignore the facts of her life; that she grew up poor, and that she taught herself to read and went on to become a female pioneer in paleontology I am all with you. But would you accept a lie of this kind today, if it had been the other way around? I will not accept this type of deliberate falsification of history with the excuse that in today's environment of identity politics anything goes.

Highly Overrated by critics
27 April 2021
I was looking forward to this movie, just to be disappointed by a slow moving film that kept going in circles with a main character who's facial expression hardly changes for the nearly two hours it lasts. There aren't really any spoilers to give away.

The film is not deep, and it's not very moving, actually it's rather forgettable.

It shows a drab side of the US, populated with sad people of varying mental sharpness with occasionally beautiful landscape shots.

Imagine if they had done it to a woman..
12 April 2020
The fact that the female character is completely fictional and was in reality a man is a disgrace.

You can just try to imagine the uproar if a true life female character had been tossed aside for a male actor.

The funniest thing that most seem to overlook
11 March 2019
Yes, it's a fun movie although in no way as perfect as many reviewers say.

There is one thing, however, that everybody seems to have missed, that I found hilarious and which would probably cause an uproar of political correctness if it appeared in a movie today: The Chinese procession plays, not Chinese music, but "La Cucaracha" (The Dancing Cockroach).

That's the way this otherwise engaging movie ties together. What a shame.

Boring Stupid and Boring
12 September 2018
Firstly, I never finished the movie, so if it picks up after 40 minutes my bad.

There isn't much to review. Jackson is stuck in his old Pulp Fiction type dialogue and attitude, Reynolds is Reynolds and Hayek.. Well she curses a lot. Lots of shooting and dead people every 4 minutes.

Clearly meant for a male audience with pimples that don't know any better. One has to feel sorry for the young and the crap that is stuffed down their throats.

Perhaps Gravity is about the World today ..
6 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Warning Spoilers!

Perhaps "Gravity" can be seen as an allegory for the state of matters right here on Earth; with the financial crises (satellite blown to pieces, and collateral damage of the debris ), political bickering and disconnection from voters (all communication to Houston is lost, and we only get absurd, unintelligible singing and baby cries), economies coming apart at the seams in most countries burdened by debt (space stations falling apart) and the individual left to fend for itself. After the total disaster (all space stations lost), humans re-emerge, once again crawling out of a pre-historic pond and onto land (as Bullock does) to start life anew...

Another one ..?
19 September 2006
What can I say? Was I disappointed? No. I have seen Almodovar's movies before. It has been some time ago though, because I was honestly a bit fed up with deviant sexuality, women who are there for each other, wonderful, but of, course, faulty mothers. Here we add some more men-are-all-if at all present-sexual abusers. Plus a little what-did-I-tell-you-about-the-plot kind of chocking ending that you figure out half way through the movie. I still rate it 7 because I did sit it out .... OK, my thorough review did not pass censorship of 10 lines, so I guess, I'll just write a little more about the movie. The problem is, I think I have already said, what I had to say. But look! Line ten has been crossed ... bye ..
