What Lies Below (2020)
Missed Opportunity To Be An Ok Film
I think the filmmaker lost 20% of the footage because there are so many plot holes and unexplained moments that it just doesn't seem like a complete film. There were definitely some good moments, creepy tones and Emma Horvath's performance was engaging but it felt like there was a lot missing. Ultimately this film leaves you a bit confused and a lot unsatisfied. Too bad because it seemed like there's parts of a decent movie somewhere here.
The Fanatic (2019)
Look Who's Stalking
Spoiler Alert-- it sucked.
Travolta imo is too old to play this character first off. A lot of bad acting in this one but the actors that played the memorabilia store owner, his BFF and that Todd the God character were just horrible. The writing - garbage. "Moose" showed pics on social media about his stalking? Yah. That's called evidence. And the ending with Dora? How about that little thing called DNA. Durst must've thought he had done something special making this film. He was wrong.
Captain Marvel (2019)
In no way is this a 1/10 lol
Despite these ridiculous 1/10 scores by people that liked every other movie in the MCU... this is a solid origin film that I never once felt like it was forcing "girl power" on me.
If anything it's more of a 7-7.5 film but I'll offset the stupid garbage reviews and bump it up by 1/2 a point.
In no way was it the most stellar marvel film ever but who says that was it's goal? It delivered on many levels and should be recognized on its own merit as another strong entry into the MCU. Anything lower than a 6/10 is just someone looking to hate this film.
From the very first announcement of this film I didn't think once about the gender / maybe you shouldn't either. What are these? The dark ages?
