Arrow: Emerald Archer (2019)
What a waste of time
This 'documentary style' episode was such a contrived and annoying idea for the 150th episode. All the indie filmmaker camera framing and and annoying shake made me nauseous. Way to take a high production show and make it look like crap.
Tiptoes (2002)
A little strange but strangely fun.
OK, the whole premise of the dwarf thing, it was a little strange. But as you watch the film you get a sense of normality strangely enough. The characters are quirky and there is one particular part were we get to see Matthew MaConahay in his underwear. (ooh)
It was an unusual film for all the actors involved. But at the same time, it was oddly charming. I would recommend that you see it. Its different, but fun.
The whole acceptance of the dwarf thing, is sort of like accepting your child has a learning disability. Its a wonderful metaphor for other aspects of life. Seeing Gary Oldman as a dwarf was really interesting, I still wonder how they did that. See it. Rent it. Whatever. Just Go. Now!
The Notebook (2004)
The film is a little lacking in some places but rewarding.
The Notebook, was in my opinion, a classic love story. The amazing thing about it was, the actors looked like regular people and the story itself could be the story of many people. Which was refreshing, because too often do great stories get ruined by big names, and people who are just too pretty to be convincing as regular people. I myself, know nothing about 'true love,' find myself caught in the weave of the film.
Although the opening was well photographed, it was not a good choice, because it is just boring. Some parts of the film could be enhanced by music, instead of just dialogue, and some of the dialogue was a little cheesy, but hey, its a love story.
Performances by Ryan Gosling, and Rachel MacAdams are extraordinary. James Garner is as always amazing as well.
The movie begs the question; what is the nature of true love?
My advice, if you haven't seen it, DO. Just remember to bring a box of Kleenex with you because you'll need it.
The Raspberry Reich (2004)
Interesting, but not what I was expecting
I saw this film at the Toronto International Film Festival, under the impression that it was something else. Having said that, as soon as I stopped being grossed out by the straight, and homosexual sex I found the movie quirky, and funny.
Its zesty comments on the German political scene, and almost avant-guard style add hilarity, to what the Director proclaimed as "soft porn."
Apparently if you've seen the director's other work, this film will come as no surprise.
Anyway from a technical standpoint it was well shot and edited. The film also has these amazing titles that pulsated a vivid red on the screen.
Saving the best for last, this film has these amazing mantras.
THE REVOLUTION IS MY BOYFRIEND!!!!!
