Utopia (2020)
Enjoyable
Let me guess what headlines the general medias would have posted if there had been more than 1 season of Utopia during Covid...
"Utopia, an antivaxxer tv-show?"
"Utopia, a nest for conspiracy theorists?"
This serie was enjoyable. I'll definitely try to find the UK version. It feels like it would've been a good story to read as books. It's kind of odd that this came out right before the infamous covid vaccines, that made so much profit, controversy and pained so many people, vaccinated or not.
This serie has great twists. I like the ways the assassins framed people's death. Always making it look like something else; a gas leak, heroin overdoses. The 2 assassins arrived with all their instruments in their big bags. It's kind of scary, and I hope this doesn't exist in real life. But who knows?
The cast was great, so cheers to them.
The Idol (2023)
I wanted to like it
It hurts to say this but this might be the worst show in history. I wanted to like it so much, I mean, Johnny Depp's daughter casting with the Weeknd!
It's super raunchy, cringy, and it made me feel so uncomfortable I had to stop watching it sometimes. I'm not sure what the producer was trying to achieve with this serie. I watched the whole thing to see where it was going. Still now, wondering, where was this going? There is no plot. It's just a celebrity, signers and a con artist doing a whole lot of nothing. And Jocelyn's « team » is not even credible. You would hope they would go deeper into the brainwashing and reactions of Jocelyn's team but no. They just sounded dumb as if they didn't care much about their artist. I never give bad ratings but I'm hoping many people will save some time and watch something else. There are many other raunchy shows to watch, way more interesting than this « whole lot of nothing » akward serie.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Wow, wow, wow!!!
These movies are always fun to watch for the special effects but this one really raised the bar on that level!
Not only did the fighting between the titans seemed accurate and real, their form, their skin, their facial expressions, everything was on point.
I thought the part in the hollow Earth was a bit hard to comprehend. Seems like some things about it simply did not make sense.
The cast was pretty good, there are many popular actors in the movie. I did find some dialogues were a bit cheesy, but then again, this is a tiny negative critic compared to the excellence of the visuals. A big congratulations to the people who designed the titans.
Gone in the Night (2022)
Reviews are worst than the movie
Well, I think the reviews are deceitful. This one deserves a lot more than 1s on 10. First of all, the acting was relatively good. This is a classic "creepy strangers" thriller type of movie. It wasn't all bad, but the end is somewhat disappointing. I don't understand the trend of leaving a movie without an ending. Maybe it's to leave the door open for a sequel? Anyways, to balance the ridiculously low reviews I'm putting a 10 but to me it was more of an 8ish.
I find it sad when they keep you guessing for 1 and a half hour but can't give you a decent ending to the story. But there is one thing they left out ; not all blood types can be received by anyone. Unless I missed something?
The Handmaid's Tale (2017)
Tough serie to watch, no matter your gender
No matter if you are a man, a woman or in between, this serie will be tough to watch.
Honestly, this has been a really captivating series for me, but, precisely hard to watch because I feel like this « dystopian » nightmare is almost already reality (since a year ago, people want to kill and put to jail people for not being vaccinated), this is very frustrating to me. This show just shows how far people are ready to go to represent their corrupted government. How far they are ready to go to not feel rejected. This also shows how rebel/real freakinf people are ready to do to protect their family, friends and dignity. This series is awful but strong at the same time... Shows how WEAK people are in real life, and with covid19 we saw how everyone is ready to throw their family under the bus. WEAK WEAK WEAK people.
Stay strong people... Peace and love will always win. Love your friends and family no matter what.
Shining Girls (2022)
What a breath of fresh air!
A serie that starts like a regular crime/investigation story, but turns out to be quite interesting. A lot lf suspense and a great twist. Excellent cast.
Silver Linings Playbook (2012)
Adored it!
Such a great movie, I've watched it several times already and every time I enjoy it so much. Of course Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence always deliver well their roles in movis up until now, so you know you'll get something minimally good. But they just worked so well together on this one. The caracters are definitely akward and weird, and they will make you feel uncomfortable through the movie. But the growth from the beggining to the end of the story makes it worth it. There's also a bunch of great actors for the secondary roles. It's a good drama/romance, and not too cheesy as it can be. Must see!!
The Unforgivable (2021)
Unforgettable movie
Started pretty dramatic, a lot of dramatic sounds, hard to understand in the beginning so and I wasn't sure if it would end up being boring like some of the Netflix movies are. But the movie had a good flow, great twists, captivating and worth watching. Great story!
True Story (2021)
11/10
Once again, Kevin Hart proves he is not just a comedian, but a true refined actor. True story is a limited series with an amazing cast and great storyline. Excellent series!
You (2018)
Mentions of COVID and vaccination in the 3rd season?!
I enjoyed the first 2 seasons but when they makd the third season about politics and vaccination, and uses "brain-dead antivaxxers" type of words, this has become very weird.
Maid (2021)
SO GOOD
What great performances by the cast. This show goves you a great story, great cast, great script, great music and camera work. A perfect drama series!
Cheer (2020)
Behind the scenes of cheerleading sport
As a ex gymnast, I really enjoyed this show because they show you the good and the bad behind the scenes of a great routine. This show gives you entertainment, raw emotions and a good look into the lives of hardcore athletes.
Really good docu-series, worth the watch!
Knock Knock (2015)
Good performance but...
Wish they had spent more time on the flirting part, was a lot of suspense in the beggining.
The psycho part just lasted too long.
Good performances though.
The Outpost (2019)
Such great acting!
This movie is fantastic. The actors were so good, it was amazing. I personally find Caleb and Orlando made this movie come to life, and the others were delivering great performances too. An intriguing situation, based on a real story... Well delivered. Great movie.
Mr. Robot (2015)
Exquisite serie!
Very good performances and great story. Well done!
Above Suspicion (2019)
Loved it!
I loved this drama movie so much, I watched it again the same week. Great performances!
The Prodigy (2019)
Don't underestimate this movie
Very surprised by the poor reviews, since every one I know who watched absolutely loved it just as much as I did.
It's an original theme for a thriller/horror movie, it's creepy and well played by the actors. A hidden gem!
Malcolm & Marie (2021)
Ouch! Not as expected.
A movie about a non-compatible couple, yelling, arguing, crying, having toxic fight from the moment they arrive home until sunrise.
Honestly, this movie only left me feeling stressed out. It felt like torture to me! I did not see anything constructive or memorable about this movie.
Close Encounters of the Fifth Kind (2020)
Watch it, try it.
I was so skeptic but I ended up having 20 sightings in one month after several tries. They exist. Try the protocole if you don't believe it.
Pieces of a Woman (2020)
Best movie I've seen in a while
I don't know who filmed this movie but it was brilliant! The storyline is also very impressive, I was personnally absorbed all along, feeling empathy for every couples living this kind of situation. Very sad movie but perfectly explained with little details. Thank you.
The Endless (2017)
Memorable scenes
Interesting movie with a good ending. Mind bending scenes that will make you remember this movie for quite a while. Not sure where the link with "UFO" is though? I originally thought it would be an ET related movie. Anyhow, it was still pretty good.
The First Purge (2018)
Don't listen to internet trolls
I thought it was a pretty good movie. I like the purge theme. The acting was fairly good and special effects were well done and realistic. I am tired of internet trolls rating every movie 1/10. Show a little respect and sympathy for the cast and the people who worked so hard on the film, damn!
This Is Us (2016)
Surprised to see the ratings!
This show is cute but way too cheesy for me. Plus, the scenes from the past were just too much for me at times. You get really into the story and characters, but then you must watch neverending scenes of the past about the two parents. And this goes on and on. At times I got confused with the past/present/past/present. I had to remember "oh yeah those are their parents" constantly.
I'm quite surprised by this rating. Maybe it's just not my style.
Flatliners (2017)
Don't listen the bad reviews
I actually enjoyed this movie. I'm sad that there are such low scores. It's maybe not an award-winning movie, but it's enjoyable. People are so difficult these days. Make your own movies!
The OA (2016)
Brilliant
This is officially the cutest show I've ever watched. Wasn't expecting much, but what an amazing series! Very original. Like OA ;)
