Life (2017)
Movie insults intelligent life forms
If you had a life form attached to your leg during an EVA, don't stay near the ISS. Launch yourself away by pushing off. Stupid premise of going to the airlock then turning the lock counterclockwise allowing the creature to stay on the ISS, was a dumb act of self sacrifice.
Hovering and freezing by the observation portal when there are Russian suits is even dumber.
Dumbest is strapping yourself in a lifeboat when all you have to do is decompress it. Having the door open during re-entry is the surest way to burn up.
No wonder this movie didn't survive at the box office.
Knock Knock (2015)
Thought this could have been worth watching, er, NO....
When I saw the trailers, I was tricked into thinking this might be similar to Trespass with Cage and Kidman. The plot twist and characters were one-dimensional and lacking, in fact there was none. The obvious plot of having two females knocking on your door late at night, wet, and it just happens that your wife is out of town, wouldn't raise a red flag but got a raise out of Keanu's pants, was laughable. Watching him go through the awkward motions of seemingly playing the good samaritan allowing strangers into his house was pretentious as well as disappointing. Not all men would be so stupid, but then again, Eli Roth doesn't think so. I was hoping it might turn into female version of A Clockwork Orange, but I was again disappointed. I was hoping there would be some blackmail twist or a Karma payback, but disappointed again. I saw the Death Game with Locke and Camp back in 1977, and remembered I hated that film too, but at least Locke and Camp were more believable. This film focuses on the husband (Reeves) and not enough on his assailants, when "daddy had a party."
Wo kou de zong ji (2011)
Out of the comic books into theatre
I found it initially long and boring like most artsy-fartsy (avant-garde) movies, but because of my knowledge in military history, it became fascinating. The cinematography is more modern than traditional kung-fu flicks. The primitive dialog and long pauses were very risky forays into the Cinéma vérité style. The scene of the four masters semi-recumbent along a table domino-style represented the solidarity and unyielding stubbornness of traditional Chinese Martial arts. It symbolized Traditionalists as unwilling to allow new weapons/fighting styles, labeling them as foreign, even though these new forms were made by their own people. The Yua Fei Dao (two-handed sword used during the 1st Dynasty Qin) was the precursor to the Chong Dao, the weapon featured in this movie. This movie was a small glimpse into the rich military history of early unified China and how Chinese weaponry adapted to the enemy and evolved with each succeeding dynasty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR7RlwSGj50
