As far as commenting on the film is concerned, I can only echo what others have already said. "Crime Wave" is brilliant and beautifully filmed. I watched the film today and I found the Kodak film used is no longer available so perhaps another film with just this look will never be possible again?

Now to the exciting news: I have just purchased (and received on 8 February 2009) copies of "Crime Wave" and "Springtime in Greenland" on DVD.

The guidelines prevent me from linking directly to the site but just use Google and look for "John Paizs" and "Crime Wave". I hope the 'availability' clause still won't prevent this comment from appearing.

I don't speak Spanish (yet!) and so I don't really understand what happens in this movie. However, I watched it on TV with the closed caption on so I could read the Spanish as well as hear it. As a result, there were parts of the movie I was able to understand a little.

Having said that, I found the movie strangely fascinating. I really liked the look of the movie and the acting was mysterious enough for me to watch with interest all through the movie. I'd like to find out if the locations were realistic or were they "tweaked" to produce a certain feeling of an uncluttered life.

Even with the language barrier I found scenes to be quite amusing. I would recommend this movie to any non-Spanish speaker with a sense of humor and an appreciation for the unusual.

I agree with the positive reviews here, this is one of my favorite movies.

Instead of rehashing what has already been said, I'd like to point out the film is also worth watching for the sets and decor. I don't believe I have seen quite the same look anywhere else but it is one I find very appealing. I think anyone interested in a retro tropical (almost Tiki-like) look will find "His Kind of Woman" to be a source of inspiration.

I really hope it is released soon on DVD in a widescreen format, preferably with additional materials.
