Outmatched (2020)
Poor copy of Outnumbered
Poor copy of the UK show Outnumbered which is partially improvised and has it's moments of genius, especially the first season, unlike this. Then again Jason Biggs isn't Hugh Dennis.
Away (2020)
Dynasty in space
This is just a cheap space opera, cliche story lines, unrealistic immature astronouts. Can we please stop with the whole idiot idea adults act line grumpy 12 year olds? Very few do and teams that supposed to train together for a DECADE are not going to be massive aholes to each other. This isn't supposed to be highschool teenage mutant werewolf space camp, this is suposed to be NASA.
It's pathetic, and there is no reason why you can't make a mature scifi show. Amazon Prime managed it. Netflix seems to have hired the C movie production team from scyfy.
Battleship (2012)
Popcorn Fun
It's fun, I still watch the whole movie every time it's on TV. No it's not very deep but the performances are good, the action is crazy and it is completely gung-ho. Give it a chance and forget about all the people expecting too much, it's a popcorn movie, not a documentary about NASA. It is a lot better that man other movies who are supposed to be 'classics'.
Kill Switch (2017)
Warning might cause Headache and vomiting
Directed by someone who is very busy with clever exposition camera-work to match the CGI. Almost all of the first person view is frantic and ...hold in this weird position because this is where the CGI comes in...Wait for it, and here comes the special effect! I'm sure it all felt really clever and involved while shooting, but in the cinema it is just a stomach churning headache inducing version of watching someone play a Dutch version of Hal Life.
Spoiler: bring a bag in case you need to vomit, this could be either from the sickening motion or the horrible script. Which is a shame, the idea is fun, but the childish execution is what destroys the film for me.
À bras ouverts (2017)
Open arms closed mind
What you need to know about this film: It has a white french actor playing a black-face Indian servant. Because this is a movie against political correctness gone wrong / over the top.
It is pretty simple: Roma Sinti (Romanian Gipsies I guess?) enter a rich pretentious socialists life and all sorts of uh la la happens. One thing happens after another followed by more things, yes that is how exciting this film is. Actually the performances are really good, the script is just lacking that 'Le clever' thing I come to expect from French cinema. Below average but the main actors do give it their all.
