Cargo (2017)
Cried my eyes out
I delved into the movie not having read any reviews or had any expectations prior to watching it. And here are my thoughts afterwards:
I've read a couple of bad reviews discussing some of the actions taken by the characters which were described as "unrealistic" or "amateur mistakes". But we forget, we are all humans and we all make mistakes. In an age where zombies roam the earth, I think people would unconsciously want to feel normal again. It's hard to live life in constant look out for danger. Which is why we slip up sometimes in an attempts to recreate a false sense of normality. And it's in these vulnerable moments that we find danger staring right back at us.
Beyond that scope, I thought this was a great movie.
The actors delivered a fantastic performance. Namely Martin Freeman, who plays a desperate father who wants nothing in the world than to protect his little girl.
I rarely cry for fictional characters but tears were streaming down my face as the story unfolded.
This movie is not meant to be taken too seriously. It's meant to be enjoyed.
Please do your self a favor and savor their story.
The Greatest Store in the World (1999)
Fun and heart warming
Right off the bat, the movie is narrated by Livvie, the reasonable member of the family, while she's in the police station. And it's in that moment you know it's not about whether they'll get caught or not, but rather, it's about having fun. I enjoyed every bit of the greatest store in the world. I smiled when they smiled, and I frowned when they frowned. This is a perfect movie for the holidays.
Aftersun (2006)
A heart warming movie
This is one of those movies that display everyday normal life where nothing really happens, yet it's very enjoyable and relatable. So don't expect something crazy to happen in that vacation cause it won't. It's is a different kind of comedy/drama where the characters interactions lead the premise of the story instead of outside factors or events. I consider this movie to be a drama more than a comedy, yet I found myself giggling here and there.
All in all, I quite enjoyed it and found it to be heart warming.
