The Batman (2022)
8/10
Much better then expected
6 March 2022
Being a huge Fan of the Christopher Nolan Trilogy starring Christian Bale I could hardly imagine that The Batman could come even close. Not being a Fan of Robert Pattinson at all doesn´t really help this but I wanted to still watch it with an open mind. I liked however the Ben Affleck Batman too quite a lot and feel a bit Sorry that he didn´t get more screen time as Batman. So I went to see The Batman with quite low expectations.

At first this Instalment is way darker then any previous Instalment of the Batman Franchise and also it is the longest with almost reaching the three hours mark.

Colin Farrells transformation is as amazing as his performance as The Penguin though he could have had more screen time. Paul Dano as the The Riddler is still a terrifying and a very disturbing villain, he fitted the cast brilliantly. Zoe Kravits performances as Catwoman was amazing though she is not as cool as Anne Hathaways Catwoman, but her gesture and look is as wild as Michelle Pfeiffers, and the Catwoman fighting sequence is definitely a win for Zoe. Finally we got Robert Pattinson as The Batman/ Bruce Wayne. Well, for me the on screen chemistry of Pattinson and Kravitz did not match the chemistry and presence of Christian Bale and Anne Hathaway, but still Robert Pattinson surprised me. He played his role very well and maybe people will start thinking of him as The Batman and not as the horrible looking guy in Twilight. The Movie was not as Action packed as the Christopher Nolan ones. The Batmobile is a 60´s muscle car look a like with no real cool features as the Tumbler. Also when it comes to Gadgets that Batman is using there is way less in here. Batman in The Batman is more a Detective with partial Anger Management issues than the cool guy, but then again, this is a very dark version. In the end The Batman is still a hell of a good movie, it is still amazing and it's still incredible, and it is still Batman. I was impressed by the most of the thing that happened, i was excited, i was hyped, i was stunt by all the amazing thing that they have done. Still the movie feels long, but I don´t know where I would have cut it shorter.

Worth viewing it

In 2012 Jack Reacher has positively surprised me and well entertained over long distances, which I had described as a successful crime film with many strengths, but storyline weaknesses. Now Tom Cruise comes back in the same role a few years later, this time with director Edward Zwick, who with Blood Diamonds ten years ago delivered a smashing actiondrama. So the signs are good that the second part could be good enough.

Many elements and moments, which already worked in Jack Reacher, and as well in many other great action films, also shine over here. On the one hand, it is Cruise in his role of the quiet, effective investigator which is very believable, on the other hand, there are some surprise moments and well choreographed action scenes. They do not superimpose the film, however, so that Cruise does not have to fight every five minutes and is running around the whole flick, but they are well-dosed and then brilliantly calculated. Even Cobie Smulders has the same effect, absolutely up to par with Cruise, and wherever she goes, no grass grows any longer.

As well in Jack Reacher : Never Go Back not everything is as it is suspected or imagined from a higher point, and it becomes clear that both have to assert themselves against one or more opponents. Already in the first part the counterpart remained for us a bit pale and this shortcoming also shows itself in the continuation. Although Patrick Heusinger as a hunter is a really good figure, the expected back men, however, really get into the background, so it is up to him to maintain the threat scenario for a long time. He does this by means of words and effective action – and when teenagers are threatened, then you suspect right that someone here can be brutally brutal.

Fans of the first part will be happy that next to action the humor comes not too short, even if Part 1 has brought something more with it. The handwriting of Zwick is also more classical, so Jack Reacher : Never Go Back appears less like a criminal-themed puzzle, which is to be solved and where Cruise and Rosamund Pike once investigate together, it acts more like a usual action movie. This is justified, but precisely this sense of a Jack Reacher and his questions that pointed to solve the case was that in my opinion in part 1 has positively distinguished the movie from typical action films. Even now, he continues to combine attentively, but the offside surprise effect and the joy "to puzzle" remains rather on the line.

Conclusion: For me, Jack Reacher compared to Jack Reacher : Never Go Back is the slightly better version, even if the action is now with 118 minutes a little more streamlined. Still, I give the same amount of movie stars, because all in all, Edward Zwick has delivered a good action film that keeps the viewer entertained. Cobie Smulders, 18-year-old Danika Yarosh and Patrick Heusinger are also performing well and will be remembered in addition to Cruise. And who wants to know how the story of the silent Lone Wolf goes on, should watch Part 2.

I.T. (2016)

Does not reach up to its expectations
12 October 2016
What will you do to make yourself on the top of the game?? For Mike Regan (Pierce Brosnan), he has reached it with the help of the top of the line technology. doing everything for him making him one of the best in his game, but that all has changed when he met Ed Porter, an I.T. consultant for his own company.

In a world where technology runs freely, a private man cannot hide himself even if he wants to. In sake of saving his life, his family & everything he owns, he needs to play the game in all of he can to remove the psychotic I.T. consultant he himself first wrongly welcomed.

The movie has a very mono chromatic story, quite predictive, and poorly executed. It is like a short story dragged long to become a movie.

Even for Pierce Brosnan, who is known for being good into action & mystery movies, and has a long span of success, has poorly executed this movie, or most of the people expect much for him and so also for this movie. But hey, if you're a Pierce Brosnan fan, this will be a tick for your movie list.

a nice lean back and be entertained movie..
14 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Today we have been to the Movie Premiere of Paul Blart : Mall Cop 2 at the Novo Cinemas at the Ibn Batutta Mall courtesy of Empire International Gulf LLC.

We got Kevin James starring again as Paul Blart in the sequel of the 2009 Movie Mall Cop. While with Kevin James and Nick Bakay the writers are the same in both movies the director in Mall Cop 2 is Andy Fickman (You Again). Raini Rodriguez is back as Blarts daughter and as well Gary Valentine (in a different role this time). It as well stars Eduardo Verástegui, Daniela Alonso and Neal McDonough who was brilliant as Villain.

I was not a huge fan of the first part of Paul Blart :Mall Cop. Luckily the second part is better in my opinion. While the story is not far away from each other the location is. This time in Las Vegas instead of a Mall in Jersey the whole Movie is a bit more on Big City level. While this is not the greatest movie Kevin James has done it does entertain and give you plenty of laughs. A little bit of Die Hard mixed with a bit of 96hours and some gags, that is basically what you get here. Straight forward easy predictable action comedy in which as well a part of serious topics like kids growing up and leaving the parents safe home, are shortly put in scene.

If you liked Mall Cop and The Grown Ups than you will as well have fun with this movie. If you are a die hard fan of The King of Queens you might walk out the theater a bit disappointed. For me it is not the greatest movie on earth, but it does what it promises, it entertains you and gives you a good time out with quite some laughs.

Verdict: We had good fun watching Paul Blart : Mall Cop 2 and think it is a nice lean back and be entertained movie.

An Excellent Adventure with some good lessons to learn
21 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I had not really high expectations on an animated movie, my son would probably enjoy something like this way more than me I thought. Huge Fail. The movie was from the beginning great and not only for kids. It is a feel-good movie for all ages. It is about family , friendship and that being different or just being yourself is not a bad thing at all. I found the movie throughout entertaining and very often funny.

The Boov's are just too funny in particular Steve Martin as the voice of Captain Smek, whose firm leadership of the Boov people is undermined by his ridiculous fascination with human artifacts such as bubble wrap . He reminded me partially on King Julien from the Penguins of Madagascar.

But even if you are not touched by the great story you will certainly love the Soundtrack. The whole movie was perfectly set and is for me the best Dreamworks movie since a long time. Take your kids and watch it on the big screen, they will love it! and you too, guaranteed.

Verdict: A great story meets perfect cast and nothing can go wrong on this alien/ human road trip movie.

A Classy British Movie paired with colorful Indian charm does not disappoint in this not to be missed feel good flick.
12 March 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I had seen the first part when it came out 4 years ago and found it very entertaining that time. Usually sequels have it difficult to live up to their expectations. This film's predecessor told the story of several British retirees who check in at the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel — a place which is advertised as newly restored, but in reality, the owner, Sonny (Dev Patel) is still fixing it up. But the charm of the hotel convinces the people to stay and live out their retirement.

Muriel Donnelly: Just because I look at you doesn't mean I am interested in what you say.

In this part Sonny has his eye on an old rundown property with hopes to turn it into a second hotel to expand the business, as the existing one is full aside from one room and nobody plans to move out. For this plan he is in talks with an American financier, who wants to send someone to check out their current hotel to see if an investment is suitable. Aside from this there are as well the wedding preparations of Sonny and his fiancée, Sunaina (Tina Desai). The sequel follows Sonny's struggle as the property he was looking to buy is bought out by some old rival. As well showcased is the personal journeys of each resident of the hotel, mostly known from the first movie. Add on Richard Gere to this. All residents have their own little side plot with some a bit more details given than others.

The story surely has its flaws, but it is entertaining throughout. I really enjoyed the comments of the character of Muriel Donnelly (played by Maggie Smith). The movie had many moments to laugh, to think and to wonder. The colorful setting and even the dancing scenes was just brilliant. One message you can take out of it if you want to is probably to appreciate the positive message of getting old with dignity.

Decent entertaining SciFi Flick...
6 February 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The Plot in short: The inhabitants of the Earth have no idea that life on her and many other planets was planted by extraterrestrial noble houses long time ago Once the created life forms have achieved a certain level of development, they are "harvested" in order to gain from them a youth serum and thus ensure their own eternal life. When the ruler of the most powerful dynasties dies, a war for the inheritance breaks out between their children Balem (Eddie Redmayne), Kalique (Tuppence Middleton) and Titus (Douglas Booth). But on Earth and in complete ignroance yet another possible heir is possible: The young Jupiter Jones, unaware of her fate and working pretty unsuccessful as a House cleaner. However, when the genetically modified ex-mercenary Caine (Channing Tatum) tracks her, all her life is changing upside down. He gives the young woman a glimpse of her true nature, which could affect the balance of the entire universe. However, Jupiter's descent also poses great danger in form of Balem who wants to see them dead at any cost...

Having had almost a day now between watching the movie my opinion is pretty clear, when leaving the cinemas I was not sure if I liked Jupiter Ascending or not. Reason for this is that I would have wished that the main characters would have developed a bit better. The special effects, the action, and other elements are fantastic in this Movie. The Movie looks amazing and as do the space ships, the worlds they built were fantastic and believable as well. I loved that, this is what makes out a good Science Fiction Movie as well. But I found the story somewhere a bit predictable and now and than it has its flaws. The coolest thing for me were the Boots that Caine used for flying.

Within the 127 minute this film is having on running time it tries to build a complex new mythology of a trans-universal order. This probably was done to have a proper setup for eventual sequels.

I really liked the chemistry between Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis, had they had deeper developed Characters I think this would have been a brilliant movie. The end leaves a lot open and I am sure this franchise will continue.

Verdict: It is not the best Science Fiction Movie ever, but alone for the amazing designed Worlds it is worth watching this Movie on the big screen. The story is not too bad either.

Taken 3 (2014)
10/10
a great Sequel and Hopefully not the end of the Franchise.
13 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
Yesterday was finally the big Premiere of Taken 3 in Dubai. The Venue was the Novo Cinemas Cineplex. This was probably the taken_3_movie_poster_1biggest Movie Premiere that has ever happened in Dubai. Around two thousand (2000) people attended the Premiere which took place at the same time in all 10 Cinemas of the venue.

Liam Neeson himself who stars in the movie as main character was present as well which gave the whole Premiere an amazing Charisma. He took lot of pictures with Fans and even visited every screening to say a few words. A really cool guy.

Biggest difference to the first two parts is probably that initially nobody is really Taken, that does change in the final of the movie, but initially Bryan tries to uncover who has really murdered his wife.

An interesting addition to the third installment is Forest Whitaker who plays Franck Dotzler the Police chief. He brings a lot of fun and entertainment to the movie. I personally found it really funny how he played with the rubber band throughout the full movie until finally using it to close the file.

While in the beginning of the Movie quite some time is taken to explain the situation between Bryan and his ex wife and her new husband as well as his now pregnant daughter shortly after the action takes over and does not stop until the movie finishes.

Unlike the first two Taken Installments Taken 3 comes up with a not really expected Plot Twist towards the end which is changing everything. or better said Bryan has to hunt down one more person that was not on his list initially...

Being the last installment of the Taken Series (until another one is announced , Taken 2 was as well the last one before) I have really enjoyed it. It is not often that a third installment reaches the same or in this case a better level than the previous installments.

This is certainly one to watch and such a great movie early in the year makes a lot of hopes for a great Movie year. And hopefully this will not be the last installment of the Taken Franchise.

Verdict: If you want to see a great Action Flick with interesting Turns and the best Taken so far this is not a movie you want to miss.

Hot Action, Cool Story, great acting ...
2 January 2015
Warning: Spoilers
the show was clearly stolen by Thomas Jane who plays a cop without respect to his superiors who does his own thing and Ambyr Childers who plays the artificial escapee. Both where excellent in their role which was a big push for the movie.

The story playing in a dark future where safety is not really given and people live out their fantasies in the Vice Resort. Basically taken from the Movie Westworld (1973) the story of Vice is more developed on a personal touch between the artificial robot and the humans. The movie is taking the one or another twist which keeps watching it interesting. The story itself was original and uncommon and I found myself not a single minute not focusing on the movie waiting what might happen next. Of course you get plenty of Action, gunfights and blood in this packed Action/Adventure.

In the end this was a good Movie with the option left open on a sequel in the end scene.

A great Christmas movie...
24 December 2014
"Paddington" by Paul King is just right for the festive season. The fluffy main character you just have to love. The animations are lovingly detailed and of irresistible cuteness. The humor is wonderful quirky and endearing. It was a welcome change to laugh many times about a film that is essentially free of blood and death.

Nicole Kidman is wonderfully funny and nasty as Museum Director whose vocation is the stuffing of animals. The Brown family with the great Sally Hawkins as mother and a sympathetic stuffy Hugh Bonneville as a father is full of hilarious absurdity.

The Movie is one you can really watch and enjoy with the whole family and there will be no doubt that everybody will love it.

Love the Movie, but would have preferred a happy end...
17 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
The Plot in short: A young Canadian surfer who is with his brother and his wife in Columbia meets over there Maria , the woman of his dreams. Soon he finds out that her uncle is Pablo Escobar. With his life getting more and more pulled into the dangerous Escobar Family business he and Maria plan to escape the family not knowing that his last mission is set up to not bring him back alive as nobody escapes Pablo Escobar.

The first thing to note on this movie is that it is not Autobiographic. It uses the person of Pablo Escobar which was real, but the love story around it is completely created into the real events from 1991 . The story nevertheless is totally believable and Benicio del Toro who plays Escobar has an unbelievable on screen presence and charisma. He was brilliant form the beginning to the end.

Josh Hutcherson who you might know from The Hunger Games plays well too and proves that he can do other movies and proves with this movie that he is a good actor. His movie partner Claudia Traisac who plays Maria his later fiancé is a perfect pick and together with Hutcherson a great combination which helps to give the story the authenticity.

Overall the movie was exciting and kept me always pondering what is going to happen next and despite the length it always kept my attention. The director,Andrea Di Stefano; has delivered here a very impressive told story – and that for a first movie. I found as well interesting to understand and see why people loved a brutal drug king pin like Escobar. Even when he went to Jail in 1991 he had still loads of supporters and many people in Columbia still think he is a hero even today.

The Movie is 100% worth watching on the big screen.

Excellent acting paired with great character development
10 December 2014
Warning: Spoilers
To be honest I went to the screening with mixed feelings. On the one side I love Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad. On the other side the Trailer did somehow not really make me super excited...

Just a few minutes into the movie I was fascinated by the role of Jacob, played by Josh Wiggins. Knowing this is the very first movie he ever played in the result is stunning. I loved the development of his slightly dark character to a person having a goal (to win the motorbike race) and in the end taking the consequences for his actions. Despite his role being aggressive trashing cars or putting things on fire and even pulling his little brother into his nighttime outings with his "crew", his acting somewhere always keeps you believing that there is a good side in him.

The Movie is the classic drama based on family tensions after the death of the mother, alcohol, loss, hope, joy, love, fear and even pride. The focus and development of the characters really drives the film. I really started to care for the family and wished for a happy end. Spoiler Alert here. There is no happy end. But I found myself continuously thinking about the end of the movie. "What is going to happen to the boys? Will everything gonna be alright?" Probably it won't be, But this Movie makes you feel and hope, against all the odds , that it will be good. For me one of the best Dramas I have seen in 2014. Definitely a must watch Movie.

Save your time and your money...
15 October 2013
We had seen the movie as a preview of another movie we had watched, and the trailer looked quite good and it was partially shot in Dubai as well.

Sadly the movie is a total disaster.

Director Jay Sun should be prohibited to make any other movies. The story is incomplete told, scenes and locations are changing permanently without being explained properly.

The dubbing of the original Chinese movie to English was so bad that i felt after 10 minutes already the will to leave the cinema. A lot of other people did that. It was somehow like a Mission Impossible in bad, despite having fancy gadgets in the movie and a lot of Nokia phones and Audi cars (sorry you should have chosen another movie for your product placement) the movie never really went good. Even the end is not logic and not explained well.

I do honestly not understand how a scrappy movie like this got released at all. The CGI effects specially when the car is hanging on a helicopter and thrown into the Atlantis the Palm Hotel it looks just horrible.

Resume: Don't waste 2 hours of your life with this movie. It is 100% not worth it and the Reel Cinemas should take the movie of the list and refund the money to the people who went to see it.
