Follow this war messenger to rediscover the art of cinematography
18 January 2020
Oxford defines 'Cinematography' as - 'the art of photography and camerawork in film-making' -it will become far more clear when you watch this movie.

Its a war epic depicted from the messenger point of view. A soldier whose only mission is to deliver message on-time to the other end.

Its a SINGLE TAKE MOVIE, means scene is constantly going on and camera is just following along!

Believe me when I say, that this movie is gripping in its storytelling. It has the raw feeling & harshness of war in its appearance. It is a brilliant movie to start this new year, as its my first movie that I watched in 2020. Go watch it and Enjoy!

There is no bigger God than a Teacher
1 August 2019
"There is no bigger God than a Teacher, And There is no bigger Religion than Education"- Partha Super-30 is movie based on true story of a Teacher named Mr. Anand Kumar, hailing from Bihar, who taught 30 students for IIT entrance examination under many difficult circumstances. In a caste inflicted society like India, Upper castes reaps the benefit of society in many situations. In this system, everything comes with a price-tag even a basic necessity like Education. This film revolves around eternal struggle of poor to climb up the ladder for a better life and rich people's intervention to shift the direction of the ladder.

The film may have added some drama and exaggeration on how a teacher teaches or student learn but nonetheless it is a good cinematic attempt in the end. There are few Bollywood producers who would gamble with such a story in this highly commercial industry. So, I would say kudos to the director & producers. Plus, Hrithik deserves a special mention for coming out of his usual glamour filled films full of his naked body shots and swift dance movements. This is a totally an unusual film for a person like Hrithik Roshan.

Some person hailing from Bihar, may have some complaints regarding the accent or brown-facing of the character (by this I mean little dark make-up of Hrithik to suit the character). But as an audience from other territories, I would say it's a brilliant attempt to credit an Indian for all his contribution to this society. Also, salute to the strength of Mr. Anand Kumar. As a movie-lover too it has all necessary drama, plot changes to make it worth watching. It may be a bit lengthy for some audience though.

Overall the film tries to show, that only Education can truly uplift a person and society. Also, inorder to gain this proper education one need a good teacher indeed. Thus..."There is no bigger God than a Teacher, And There is no bigger Religion than Education".

It is the Ashwathamma of TV Series.. will never fade away
11 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
'Sacred Games' is a netflix series, a thriller based on story of Mumbai when it was crawling with local goons, politicians rising to the power, terrorist making plots to disrupt Mumbai's life post Babri masjid demolition riots. The story starts with a deep voice of a man telling stroy of his past, he is the kid of an unfaithful parents, the kid who became a Don..then as helpless as a stray dog.... then again rose to the occassion to become as synonymous with Ashwathama, the character from Mahabharat who could never die... a curse or a blessing, you decide! Thats the name of the first episode too 'Ashwathama'

The deep voice shows up as Nawazuddin Siddiqui's voice, a gem of an actor who played character of Gaitonde, the kid I talked about. Once the story start progressing, we see a Mumbai police constable (played by Saif Ali Khan) trying to solve a suicide mystery and got caught in a bigger scheme of things... he paired up with Raw agent (played by Radhika Apte) to uncover a suspected terrorist plot.....you must watch season-1 to get a hang of it.

In this journey, one wil never get bored... rather the way Siddiqui acted, may leave you spellbound...... plus the raw story telling of Anurag Kashyap & Vikramaditya Motwane is something not usually seen in Indian TV/Web series. Portrayal of character Gaitonde by Siddiqui will etch a mark deep down viewer's memory, and I didn't know that Saif could act so well... he should take this type of role more often..... overall its a TV series of international class but #MadeinIndia

October is the sonorous song sung in deep silence and heavy emotion... will leave you thinking & more humble towards life at the end
21 April 2018
Other people give up on you easily and you fight for survival constantly... this movie portrays in a subtle way.. how fragile this life is .. yet how powerful simplicity of thought is..... Varun's character paints simplicity of thinking in this complex world..... The director extended emotion in various scenes... some as simple as thinking blankly about today from the window of a hospital... without getting weary about tomorrow's survival.... alson it paints a picture where Smell of shiuli flower can sometimes bring life in a still body... shiuli flower does bring back my childhood memory too. Loved collecting those in the morning... sometime I helped my mom with those to make flower garland ready to offer to the Gods & Goddesses.

Coming back to the movie... it stretched a bit sometimes.. so you may feel bored through the mid way, but do wait till the last scene..... if you have ever felt the pain a of a young lady fighting for her survival... this movie will surely leave you heavy hearted and with a sense of more humility towards life.

An honest attempt portraying the eternal shadow of our society that hasn't moved as fast as the country is developing
24 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This movie is an honest attempt to portray the underlying pain in the society that is camouflaged in a smile across so many faces. Few of the elements may surprise you in the beginning, like 'Who is Rosy exactly?'

... as the movie progress, you will realize that Rosy is the eternal shadow that has not moved in a so called developing country like us! It was women-centric and very aptly depicted through various character, special mention should be there for Ratna Pathak's acting given her age and other younger actress in abundance. She proved to be the singularity in the chaos (read in positive sense) happening throughout the story.
