These are well made DC and Marvel films. I didn't worry about any continuity in selecting these.

Bond, James Bond - Only the Best (And Most Serious)

Public
Revised 3/24 I have now selected one film for each Bond actor. My primary consideration was selecting films that I feel played things pretty straight, without too much in the way of gimmickry, silly puns, and far out plots. There is always some of this in almost every Bond film, but I feel these selections minimize those.
I like all of the Sean Connery films, but my choice for the best and most serious is from Russia with Love. I give honorable mention to Never Say Never Again, a non -EON Bond film, that remakes Thunderball and takes things pretty serious. Connery was Bond and I can find redeeming value in each of his films.
For Roger Moore, I recently changed my favorite to For Your Eyes Only. It''s much less gimmicky and silly than his other films.
For Timothy Dalton, I took his first, The Living Daylights. The second is a revenge flick and I don't like films where Bond goes off the reservation.
George Lazenby's one outing, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, went in the list. Not much choice there, but I really do like the film. Again it's treated pretty seriously.
I went with Tomorrow Never Dies for Pierce Brosnan (no invisible cars in this one) and Casino Royale for Daniel Craig. Part of the reason I picked CR is that it follows the plot of the book pretty well.
** None of my lists represent a complete listing of any artist. They are selections that I like and recommend. **

Classic Noir Films . . . and Some Not So Good
30 titles |

The first 13 films on this list consistently and deservedly land on listings of the best film noir, making a nice baker's dozen.
The next 10 films (14-23) represent some personal recommendations for those that want to explore further.
Finally, the last films on the list (24 and after), I consider to be over-rated. I found them bad, boring, or both. Feel free to judge for yourself.

Superhero Oddities

These are some good offbeat superhero films. There are plenty of others that didn't make the cut. You probably never heard of most of the characters until the films came out. Some of these characters didn't exist before the films.
