Castle Rock: Restore Hope (2019)
Best episode yet!
This episode steps away from Annie Wilkes and focuses on the Merrill family. Nadia and Pops carry this episode. The problem has been the show killing off characters before they develop them. I didn't even know the name of the brother that got killed in this episode. Anyways, I hope this show turns it up a notch and weaves a nice yarn, and doesn't end like a dumpster fire like Season 1 was.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
He should have stayed dead
I am marathoning the Friday the 13th movies for the first time. I've thoroughly enjoyed every movie so far in the series, with Part V being the weakest so far. However, this movie is now by far my least favorite. The writing, the acting, Jason teleporting, and the most unlikeable characters out of the entire series really sinks this movie. I'm hoping "Jason Goes to Hell" is a happier return to the likes of my favorites: Part III and Part VI.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (2017)
The Biggest Let Down Since My Divorce
I loved Kingsman 1. I went into the theater with high hopes and they were instantly crushed. Take the most over-the-top parts of the first Kingsman movie, multiply that by 2, and then extend that throughout the entire movie. If that is your type of movie, then this movie is for you. However, in my opinion this movie killed one of the most promising new franchises in Hollywood. I'm sad they chose to take the low road every opportunity they got.
13 Reasons Why: Bye (2018)
Absolutely Disgusted
I want to begin by saying that I'm not easily triggered by events on TV or in movies. However, the 38 minute mark of this episode was one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen on screen. Shocking scenes are sometimes necessary in TV shows to further the narrative or help develop the characters in the show. However, the event in this episode has absolutely no reason to be included. As a whole, this season has been extremely uneven. Without the tapes acting as the narrative driver of the series, Season 2 seems to fluctuate from highs and lows at a very poor pace. The most interesting characters got little screen time and Clay kept making decisions that shaped him into a more unlikeable character. I wish I could delete Episode 13 from existence and just leave the season at the mediocre ending that was Episode 12. I won't be returning next season, and I would recommend everyone to stay away from this show.
