Josh Kirby: Time Warrior! Chap. 3: Trapped on Toyworld (1996)
I paid $1 and it was well worth it!
I've always been a fan of Awful sci-fi films, or attempts at awful sci-fi films. If you watch this movie with the intent of an edge of your seat thriller, then you're going to be disappointed.
However if you, like me, found it at a Dollar Tree and thought it would be a fun way to waste time with your friends, then you will absolutely love it.
Between the terrible dialouge, ridiculous plot, bad acting, awkward dances, unrealistic special effects, and predictable ending, this is the perfect film is there is absolutely nothing better to do and you need some cheering up with your best friends.
The Office (2005)
The humor of this show is really "incalculable"
The Office is one of the best, if not THE best show on television right now. It has the wonderful mild, realistic humor of shows like "Arrested Development" and "Scrubs". You can see the influence of "This is Spinal Tap" in the great scenes where the cast "doesn't know" that they're on camera. Great one-liners, and wonderful scenes. 4 of the shows writers are actually cast members, and they're improv skills show up. Very quotable show, and anyone with a bad job will definitely find a character you know in real life. Great new comers like B.J. Novak and John Krazinski. Steve Carrell fans will not be disappointed by him in this show, it's a perfect role for him. Even if you didn't like the British version, be sure to check "The Office" out!!!
Sin City (2005)
Awesome's an understatement
Okay, so, I'm not exactly in the key-demographic for this movie, but it was so incredibly fabulous I can't help but request it to EVERYONE! I hope it gets nominated for an Oscar for the wonderful cinematography. You will never think of Elijah Wood as a Hobbit, Rosario Dawson as a Bass-playing Pussycat, or Alexis Bledel as a quiet, studious, perfect child. You'll keep thinking Brittney Murpheys a whore though. It's so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so wonderful! If you don't go see it, than there's something wrong with you. Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Clive Owen, Del Torro are particularly wonderful. It's just, so great. I haven't read the books, but I went and bought them last night because the movie was so incredible. Please, just, GO SEE IT!
Fat Albert (2004)
Great Movie, Even Better Ending.
I left the theater crying after Fat Albert. During the ending scene I just fell apart! Right next to my boyfriend! And I usually don't cry during movies. It was beautiful though. It was well written, with good character, and clean. I hope this is a growing trend with movies (first Napoleon Dynamite, now this). Now, don't get me wrong, I'm your normal cussing teenager but its really nice to just enjoy a movie for the pure comedy. It was very fun! I knew I was going to like the movie when they all opened up their coke cans (people who have seen the movie know what I mean). It's a truly great movie, I suggest going with a bunch of people so you wont have to spend the next month saying "You HAVE to see Fat Albert" to everyone!A very inthusiastic thumbs up, coming from a high schooler!!!!
Jimmy Kimmel Live! (2003)
Getting up there
I wouldn't say that Jimmy Kimmel Live has reached the caliber of other late night talk shows such as Late Night with Conan O'Brian, it is an incredibly interesting show. As a Mighty Mighty BossTones fan, I loved the choice to hire Dicky Barrett as the permanent announcer. Some other parts of the show I like are "Unneccessary Censorship", "Dress the Band", "Sit and Be Fit", and Dicky's compliment. I predict that within a year Jimmy Kimmel will be the top late night TV host. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend it. Another great part of J.K.L is the choice of bands and guests. I do miss the co-host for the week idea, but the show has gotten progressively better without it, so whatever works, right.
