Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal (2012)
An honestly bias review.
I came here expecting to find a lot of biased reviews from fellow Colombians but feel pleasantly surprised by the variety of people and the take most have. There are quite a few helpful reviews like the one from jollyjumpup.

I too found flaws in production that can become annoying, like the repetitive music riffs (in general, music choices could be better), or some sudden cuts between scenes. Yet I give it a 9 because of the historical importance the series has and the effort that was put into reflecting the real impact this monster had on Colombian people. In general, the acting as well as settings, costumes, etc. Are very good.
Unlike others, I couldn't binge-watch the series. While some parts are not completely accurate they do reflect on real events and all of them lead to the same painful memories I have of the time.
"Plata o plomo" was Escobar's philosophy to slowly but surely make security, justice, freedom and democracy disappear for all Colombians, and this series does a good job of showing that.
If you are watching the series and find handling of deaths too soupy, my recommendation is to focus on the events and their impact instead of the production details. I believe this series is also trying to pay respects to the deceased and their families, after all, these were real events, where real people were affected and they had real consequences in the population's psyche.
