Beyond Belief (1976)
The true background
The only part of this movie that was filmed specifically for it, was the segment on past-life regression. I researched and produced this segment, after having gone through past-life regression with the hypnotist in this film. Too many years have gone by for me to remember his name, but I found what I learned to be interesting, but not convincing, as far as, my situation was concerned.
Everything else, was purchased for use in "Beyond Belief". Surprisingly, I have seen this film on television twice over the years, and for my parents "pride", the credits were cut just after my name appeared on screen. It was also available, at one time, on VHS, but my local Blockbuster never carried it. I don't know if it has been or ever will be available on DVD.
I no longer work in the industry, but although I thought this film was awful, it was the only time something I worked on carried my name as a credit and it has gotten me a listing in IMDb, something very few of my friends can say.
Wit (2001)
Death be not proud
Emma Thompson gives the performance of unparalleled excellence as Professor Vivian Bearing. We as the audience are given a personal glimpse of the day to day events leading to a most heroic death. My heart has been touched in a way that so few other films, television movies, books or plays ever have. I am better for having seen her performance and having known the character of Professor Bearing will remain in my memory for many years to come.
I am amazed that Ms Thompson did not win an Emmy for her performance. Since she is the main character in this seamless, virtually one woman film, as well as the co-writer, I cannot not believe that Mike Nichols could win so many awards for directing, and yet Ms Thompson was overlooked by both the Emmy's and Golden Globes. I shall have to research who won in her category and for which work. Frankly I cannot imagine who might have won over her performance.
This is most definitely a full tissue box film.
