Episcopaliens (2004)
A great short musical
I saw this short when were both finalists in the 2004 Atlanta 48 Film Project and really loved it. It's easily the best 48HFP Musical I've seen.
They don't go the self-conscious route of commenting on the fact that they are doing a musical, which you see a lot of, but just play it straight. The songs are quite good and fit in seamlessly, well-recorded and synced. I saw another 48 hour film musical that WON it's city this year ("Detonate") and thought it was not quite as tight or entertaining as this one.

Dropping the Gloves (2004)
Funny and very original
I saw this short at the Atlanta Film Festival 2004 and really liked it. It was well-acted and written. A lot of the 48 Hour Films that made it to the same "Best Of Atlanta" show had big time production staffs and a lot of people behind the camera. This was one of the underdogs that seemed to be made by some very funny people who just grabbed a camera and went with it.
About the only false note was that the "old" landlady was clearly a younger actress playing old, which is hard to pull off on film. But she was funny, which I'm sure outweighed the age issue to the filmmakers.
The final scene was a great last joke, too.
