It Follows (2014)
Disappointed
I REALLY wanted to like this movie. When I saw the trailer...and when I was watching the movie it had that "Old School Horror film" vibe to it. that aspect was refreshing. It looked like a low budget (in a good way) 70's & 80's classic horror film that I loved back in the Days. The Score was very good. The camera work..... somewhat overdone but I will forgive that. The first half of the movie was good, Then at the half way mark it was like they changed Directors...and the New Director didn't bother to watch the first half of the movie. It stopped making sense there were several scenes that seemed incomplete. The kid's Reactions were so casual. I was very disappointed.
Ex Machina (2014)
Ex-machina
I can't get into the specific things that I thought were Genius because I don't want to give anything away. But I LOVED this Film. It was an Old school science fiction film. The whole time I was watching it I thought about the 70's science fiction films like "2001" "Alien" "Solaris", something you might find of late night classic TV networks The Cinematography was outstanding I hope they get an Oscar Nomination. The Score was great. The acting!.. Alicia Vankander was So good It was a brilliant performance by everyone but she was hypnotic. The over all feel of the movie was refreshing. If I was on the Oscar board I would nominate this one for Best Cinematography & Best musical Score. This movie was Brilliant.
Sparkle (2012)
Loved it.
I was a little prejudice when I went to see it. I really liked the original version. But this was surprisingly better, granted doing a remake you will alway's have an advantage. In addition the the main story line they did an excellent job of painting the picture of the black culture in the 60's (that was a real plus for me) If I had a vote on "ANY" awards show I would Nominate this movie for the following. Best Cinematography Best Screenplay Best Supporting Actress- Carmen Ejogo.
Of course the music was great. Jordan Sparks really impressed me I wasn't sure about her at first but she "Nailed" the songs "One Wing" & "Love Will"
The Hunters (2011)
I tried
Diana Agron is a "Goddess" to me I feel obligated to watch everything she is in. I agree with the previous review. The Editing was Terrible in this film. The pacing was off, scenes went on forever. The Story was actually not that bad, it could and should have been a better film. Also the description on the back of the DVD cover is incorrect. I says "a group of high school friends aproaching the graduation decide to spend some time in the woods the find an abandoned fort where Blah, Blah, Blah. there is no need to continue, because none of this happened. The description on the IMDb site is more accurate. The Cinematography wasn't bad. Again great potential but it didn't get their.
