Midsommar (2019)
Classic American distortion of European culture
The psychological aspects of the inner journey of Dani might be interesting to some, but the cult setting it is played out in is ridiculously distorted and unrealistic to anyone but an uneducated American who thinks Sweden is the capital of the Netherlands. The landscapes and houses does not look anything like Sweden if you know Sweden, and the portrait of midsummer rituals are so far from the real world cozy family burping and drinking summer holiday version of Christmas that midsommar is in Sweden that you simply can't believe the stupidity and ignorance of it. Topping it with having to believe that a cult this size and age could exist in one of the world's most lawful and ordered countries just crowns this our right crappy movie. Don't waste your time seeing it.
Kin (2018)
Mediocre movie with a good ending.
You will be pretty bored along the way and skipping or fast forwarding is advised but the last 15 minutes are great.
Fred til lands: 1 (2019)
Interesting
A good start to the series. Dark and promising, but a bit too much like Strangers things in music and mis-en-scene and annoying constant use of highly distorted wide angle lenses when panning leaving you borderline seasick. But otherwise beautifully filmed. The portrait of the antagonist psychopath is a bit black and white in contrast to his victims, but the promise that they will plan his murder will hopefully add nuance as the series progresses.
Hidden: Förstfödd (2019)
Good crime story
Classic Scandinavian crime noir with a great supernatural twist. Unfortunately the budget thinking of filming in Budapest becomes a problem: Even in the dark Budapest pretending to be Stockholm does not look like Stockholm when you know the city an that disturbs the fictional tale and becomes meta in a bad way.
