Ad Astra (2019)
I second the motion.....why are they saying this movie is great?
23 September 2019
Well I am usually praising movies when I see them but today we saw a bad one. Save your money and don't go see Brad Pitt in AD ASTRA. This movie was a mishmash of several flicks like Apocalypse Now, Gravity, 2001, THX-1138, The Martian, Event Horizon, and a dash of Planet of the Apes (Wahlberg Version)! Granted the SPFX was great to look at but that is it. We were expecting more like Interstellar but got short changed! This movie also has 3 actors from Space Cowboys (one of them in almost the same type of role) which was a better movie. There were a few plot holes and scientifically inaccurate action.

Haven't seen it since 1978 but it made an impression!

So I was 10 years old when this movie played in the theater in Marshall, Missouri. And unlike any other movie that I had experienced there. During the climatic suspense parts of the movie there was a person who would burst out from the side of the screen in a gorilla costume and accost movie viewers at he front of the theater! That made it a night to remember. I think I saw Slithis 3 times during it's run. Sure it's cheesy...but it was entertaining.

don't pay money to see it

Nothing at all happens until 55min into the film. The above comments are ditto here. Go watch the original. The 1989 original's effects are WAY superior to this 2017 sham. There is even a robot fight scene that looks just like Rockem Sockem Robots !! The producers should have just continued the story where the first one left off. Maybe have the government send an expedition to the moon to get ancient but superior technology to fight a Kallium outbreak back on Earth.

Virus (1980)

The version to watch is the long uncut version
17 June 2016
I just purchased a used copy of the Sonny Chilba Action Pack which includes the uncut Japanese 156m version of the film. By far the best transfer of the film to a media that I have seen thus far. This version is extremely better than the edited US version. Every bit worth the money spent to acquire it. Looks like it is presented in 1:1.85 aspect and not grainy. The cut Japanese scenes bring a better viewing experience to fans of this film like me. There are English subtitles where needed. The scene that prompted me to post this on here was a scene where the Japanese Antarctic team get a radio signal from a 5 year old American child unable to operate a radio correctly. VIRUS is one of my favorite movies about the end of the world.

Hornets' Nest (1970)

The movie made me stop flipping channels.
12 August 2006
I was flipping channels and came upon Hornet's Nest. I thought I was watching Force 10 From Navarone (no digital cable) until the hospital scene. The movie had elapsed 20 minutes but for some reason I was drawn into the story. There was quite a lot of carnage in the movie and I hope I had to assume that Rock raped the doctor lady. The real character that you have to clap for is the German Captain that was dissed by all his superiors pretty much for the whole movie when he was just doing his job in the best interest of the Fatherland.

I went through all possible emotions during the flick and was overall happy with the movie having never seen it before. I had to log onto the database to know it's title which brings me to making my comments. I give it a 7.
