Pete's Dragon (2016)
A story about loneliness that teaches you how to treat animals
A story about a lost orphaned boy who befriends a magical dragon. But really it's a story about loneliness. The rest of civilisation, who find the boy six years later, think the boy is lonely, missing his family, but he's made a family with the dragon, whom he calls Elliot. But Elliot needs Pete just as much as Pete needs Elliot, both were orphaned and lonely, and need each other to survive. But the dragon was the loneliest of all the characters because it had never met another of its species.
Unfortunately some thought the dragon was a monster, that needed to tamed, captured and exploited, when in reality the dragon was a rare endangered species that needed protecting and preserving, and to with its own kind.
A wonderful children's story and definitely worth watching as a film.
Happy Family (2017)
Good family morals and great humour
Many reviews have stated that the subject matter is unsuitable for children. But actually the film contains some wonderful morals:
1. Parents should have a good work/life balance; family comes first
2. Beauty isn't everything and fades eventually; people should love you for who you are, not how you look
3. Children should obey their parents and parents shouldn't shout and nag at their children
4. Don't let anyone bully you, and don't become a bully and lower yourself to their level
5. Being smart is useful; don't dum yourself down
6. Families can drift apart because of minor differences and misunderstandings, but small changes can bring family members together
The story keeps the film together and comedy is really good as is the animation. It's a kids movie and not the most original, however it's entertaining enough and kids will love it, plus take the opportunity to teach them some morals!
