Doctor Thorne (2016)
Wonderfully entertaining
I so enjoyed this series. There are a few twists that make the series a bit intriguiDirected well. I loved the period costumes, the locale and the characters. The story line bode true of the "have and have nots" at that period of time . It's enjoyable to the eyes and shows how the working class was looked down at and were not good enough to marry the members of the gentry. Mary Thorne, our poor little girl, the niece of Dr. Thorne, has grown up with Frank, the son of local gentry. Frank is madly in love with Mary as she is with him, but Frank's mother refuses to allow any idea of marriage between the two. Sit down and enjoy.
Diablo (2015)
Intense and twisted Western
Missed the very beginning, but saw the good man and the bad man. I was caught up in the action of the "good" man and hoping that he would succeed in his quest. Enough said, it totally turned around. The ending was a shock. It's not a "Clint" western, totally different, Will watch it again.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (2016)
Look at it as a romance/horror but fun.
When I first saw the billing I couldn't imagine a how this movie would be entertaining. Thus saying this, I actually liked the movie, and thought the actors were better than the Kiera/Matthew P&P. Obviously it's not supposed to be compared to other Pride and Prejudice movies, but the acting was good, entertaining and lots of gore and grossness, as a zombie movie would be. It is not a Jane Austen story, so just enjoy.
The Ice Road (2021)
Finger gripping excitement.. A good watch for an evening.
I really enjoyed this movie. A bit of nail biting excitement, not too fancy, but a good watch. I actually was a bit surprised that it was a good who-done-it. Right to the very end.
Bridgerton (2020)
Loved it. a romantic fantasy
I have not read the books nor need to . I binged watched the series, and couldn't turn it off. Loved the characters, loved the costumes, and enjoyed the story. It was an entertaining period piece and I loved it.
The Revenant (2015)
Waste of Time
After all the praises about this film, I took time to watch all of it. It was basically a film about how beautiful winter scenes and weather can be. Other than the nature scenes, I found this boring, distracting, stupid to the point idiotic in certain circumstances, also where Hardy can hardly be understood and his character is ridiculous, and the fact that Leo's character did not die of hypothermia. You have to watch the movie to see what I am talking about The jest of this movie is the story of a man's survival in the wilderness. I will say that the bear scenes were astounding graphic and very realistic to the point that it was amazing that he even survived the attack. If you want to watch it, be my guest but I will not watch it again. And I would recommend to my friends not to waste their time on this movie. The film I would recommend watching is " Man in the Wilderness" 1971, staring Richard Harris and John Huston, who was also the director This film is so much better
