Faith, Fraud, & Minimum Wage (2010)
Available on Hulu and worth checking out
This is a Christmas movie worth checking out.
I was afraid it was a Hallmark special, but it is anything but. It walks a tight line between skewering Christian hypocrisy and showing that faith can give you strength.
The lead actress and her father were totally believable. Uncle Bob is a genuinely disturbing and all too realistic villain.
Good acting and some interesting visuals. The cameos as the "site of the miracle" were hilarious, and touching. The scene where Uncle Bob shows his true colors followed immediately with the dunk Satan side show attraction made me laugh.
Worth a watch.
Sharknado (2013)
Unrealistic Sharks, Impossible Weather, Why Aren't There 10 Of These Already!?!
What makes entertainment in general so profound is the audience's ability to abandon reality and embrace a new world with new possibilities. What makes this movie so grand is how it makes us ask the question: Why Not?
Why can't a hurricane flood the streets of Hollywood? Why can't a shark native to the southern hemisphere eat cars in LA? Who is to say that a state with no tornadoes can't shoot 20,000 sharks up into the air?
The uniqueness of this exquisite film jerks you back and forth with unforeseen plot twists and dramatic ironies like when the brave heroes are saved by a Hummer from a storm caused by global warming.
I can not recommend this film highly enough. Watch it with as many friends as you can. Grieve with them as every hero is swallowed whole. Shout in victory every time a shark is killed in creative and unusual way.
I can't wait for the sequel: Shark-nami
