Another great movie gets review-bombed
24 December 2020
Another brilliant movie written & directed by a woman is review-bombed on IMDB. So predictable.

This is an incredibly suspenseful movie. I had to pause it a few times to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack! Impeccable acting, from the leads to the bit parts. The writing isn't overly verbose, so when people talk, it means something. Lots of subtetly. And the directing, good grief, it's like the shots were peeking around the corners to build suspense!

As so many other reviewers noted, this movie includes (gasp!) A BABY. The difference between this flick & 99.9% of all others is that this baby isn't just a plot device. This movie depicts the reality & inconveniences of having a newborn. Not just a mid-movie montage, but actually buying diapers, having a baby on your hip while you try and cook, and of course, the baby crying at all the worst possible times.

Reviewers who claim the baby cries the whole movie have clearly never dealt with 2 straight hours of a baby crying, AKA, an eternity. Lucky them!

Don't believe the reviews
11 October 2020
Once again, a movie written & directed by a woman has crap ratings. Once again, male critics/reviewers rated it much lower than female critics/reviewers. And because there are disproportionately far fewer female critics, the unfair rating sticks.

Veena Sud & Mirielle Enos are a powerful duo. That's all it took for me to push play. Sud's work is beautifully haunting & Enos's acting is riveting. Her ability to express 17 conflicting emotions out of her eyeballs is heartbreaking. Peter Sarsgaard is criminally underrated; he acts the hell out of this movie.

This was an incredibly tense 90 minutes. It's tough to focus with the whole country melting down around us, but I didn't play with my phone once. I did have to pause once to take a breather - the suspense was killing me! Overall, it kept me engaged, stressed, and guessing right up to the end. Very unique. Very enjoyable.

For anyone sick of the same old superhero movies
9 September 2020
Any time a flick had a female lead & ridiculously low ratings, chances are I'll enjoy it. Fanboys with nothing better to do than review-bomb movies have given me a whole new rating system!

This is an interesting take on the superhero genre. It's a smaller, more personal story, as opposed to the same old storyline we see recycled in every giant blockbuster blowout. I recommend this to anyone who's rolled their eyes at the arrogant, dillhole, womanizer superhero we see over & over on screen. This is entirely different. Refreshing.

Review bombing a great show
20 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
To the previous reviewer, who commented that "call out" during a military funeral isn't believable - that was Final Roll Call. That WAS the military funeral. At least do a basic google search before discounting a long-standing military tradition.

Looks like a lot of unnecessary review bombing around here. Funny how that tends to happen when showrunners & casts don't consist entirely of straight white dudes.

The first 3 minutes of this show made clear that it would be different than 99% of other military shows/movies - it accurately portrays a female point of view. I've only seen the pilot, but really enjoyed it. I laughed a lot & was impressed with the writing and the acting. The incredibly low rating is NOT warranted.

Brutally honest, dark, queer humor
22 December 2019
Wow, I've never had the experience of a show created by, written by, and starred in by someone who actually represents me. It was so relatable & hysterically funny. I can't wait for more episodes!

Obviously this has been review-bombed & that's really unfortunate. I sincerely hope this show catches the attention of the queer community, and that it gets a second season!
