Succession: With Open Eyes (2023)
A Meal Fit For A King!
If a great story doesn't end well, does it really matter? What is a perfect ending anyway? Well, if there is a perfect ending anywhere in the transcendental realm or anywhere else, it has to be this. For long-time show watchers, the ending will not be a surprise at all, somehow it all makes sense, somehow, we know exactly what any character is thinking and might do. The performances have been so life-like, and we have gotten to know these characters so well, that there are really no surprises. That's character development. The music flows flawlessly, weaving the whole story together into a great symphony, even though by the end you will start questioning your own existence and the meaning of everything. That's how powerful this show is. It's not just a fast-paced, corporate family drama, it is life on screen. In the rawest, most real and cruellest form. Watch this episode, go out, and see the world. With Open Eyes.
Succession: Kill List (2023)
Testosterone fuelled Chess Match
The show has peaked, it has outdone itself, with another banger of an episode. The Norwegian setting looks breathtakingly phenomenal, the Vikings are on top of their game and looking for a kill. Can the American Giants hold their ground?
It's a testosterone-fuelled showdown, between Matsson and the Roy brothers. They have been outstripped of their armour, everyone is vulnerable (even Matsson), bleeding fast, and ready to fight till the end. This episode really shines in terms of the dialogue and the performances. The writing is tight and witty, the performances are authentic and raw. And the ending is satisfying and bittersweet.
This is the best episode in the season so far, and it is going to get more thrilling from here onwards.
Succession: Connor's Wedding (2023)
Hits you like a hurricane
This one is a heavy hitter. The episode is filled with raw emotions, drama and character. Every actor seems to have given it all they had for this episode, but the real surprise for me was Kieran Culkin who plays Roman, he really shined with the depth of emotions he was able to display in the key scenes of this episodes. The episode manages to truly subvert all our expectations, and it would be impossible to go into greater detail without revealing any major spoilers. It is an episode that truly belongs at the top of every tier-list of best TV episodes of all time. From a philosophical perspective, the episode really manages to ground the viewer in the harsh realities of this world, and show them how cruel fate can be. The culmination of a tense and thrilling episode exposes the cracks and conflicts within the Roy dynasty. The episode is a game-changer that sets the stage for a new era of power struggles and drama.
Barry (2018)
It keeps getting better and better
From the first episode, the show manages to suck you into Barry's world. It's fast-faced, action packed, funny as hell, and the show keep getting darker and darker as progress further. The characters have been excellently crafted, and the acting is magnificent.
The star of the show of course is Bill Hader himself, the immersion he manages to create is something I have never experienced before.
Barry: forgiving jeff (2022)
Back with a bang
The season premiere was excellent. It took us back into Barry's world and brought us up-to speed with all the events that have transpired since last season in just 28 minutes. It's fast-paced, weirdly funny and darker than ever before. Get ready to be sucked into Barry's world, once again.
Basket Case (1982)
A real gem.
I watched this movie as a part of Joe Bob Brigg's Last Drive-In marathon. And bot was I surprised. The acting is good, the effect are pretty good considering the low budget, and the story is quite good as well. I really loved the climax, as it ties everything in. And it's quite a shocker for first-time watchers.
Check it out!
Rick and Morty: Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat (2019)
Intense!
The first episode was extremely fast paced, and the jokes kept coming. This show just keeps getting better and better, and I don't think anybody is complaining about the long breaks between seasons after watching the premiere. The post-credits scene was just lovely, and added to the philosophical depth.
Guide (1965)
A class apart.
Guide, might be the best film that Indian cinema has ever produced. I may go a little further and call it a "perfect' film. It is a study on the nature of man.
The journey of an ordinary man from being a carefree and happy soul, to becoming a corrupt and greedy man, falling to the pits of despair and loneliness. And in the end rising from the ashes as a phoenix, a beacon of hope for the hopeless.
He reaches nirvana.
Ghoul (2018)
Senseless plot, cringeworthy acting, great marketing though.
Skip this mini-series and watch a true horror film like RAAT (1992) by Ram Gopal Varma instead.
The dialogues carry little meaning or impact, the music just kills the atmosphere, and the over-the -top acting makes it a really bad show.
The marketing team has done a great job by creating a buzz for this show. People may just watch it because of the hype. I did too.
Blood & Guts (2003)
So you've come to stare at the BEAST, have you?
If you want to see how a real bodybuilder trains you need to watch this film. The film's B&W look creates an atmosphere that is intense and a bit creepy. The film has been shot in Temple Gym which looks like a dungeon. There is no paint on the walls and there is no fancy equipment.Dorian's training partner Leroy is just awesome and Dorian is just phenomenal. This film is far better than films like Generation Iron and it gives you a behind the scene look into the realm of Professional Bodybuilding. This film was made in 1996 a year before Dorian's last contest after which he announced his retirement after suffering from a triceps injury. In my opinion Dorian Yates is one of greatest bodybuilders of all times and he took the sport of bodybuilding to a new level.
Hannibal (2013)
It's at par with 'The Silence of the Lambs'.
The show's characters are based upon the book 'Red Dragon'.It is nicely crafted and all characters seems to add depth to the story. The plot revolves around an FBI criminal profiler who is gifted with an ability to look at a crime seen from the eyes of the killer, but this ability makes him vulnerable to horrifying hallucinations. On the other hand Dr.Hannibal Lector looks like a well groomed psychoanalyst who seems to understand Will's problem.
The cinematography is superb and the acting is good so I think all in all this seems to be the next big thing in the genre of Crime and Thrillers as far as TV shows are concerned.
Zero Bridge (2008)
A brilliantly crafted story.
I was a bit skeptical about this film as I had never seen a movie entirely shot in Kashmir.Although I am a Kashmiri I never liked the kind of films which are made by Bollywood in Kashmir as they always try to show things which don't exist in reality and never try to be honest. They always try to twist the truth for their own benefit. But after watching Zero Bridge I was astonished and I really liked the movie for portraying a closer to reality version of Kashmir. The shots taken at Dal Lake portray the beauty of Kashmir in a really delightful manner. The story was simple and the performances were excellent.I have given it 9/10 for being an excellent Kashmiri film.
Dynamo: Magician Impossible (2011)
Street Magic at it's best.
The show has mainly been shot in UK and some other European countries.Dynamo is awesome and he it very good at captivating the audience both on the street as well as people watching the show on their T.V. some of the tricks are shown more often on the show like the ring and glass trick, the phone trick and the trick in which Dynamo disappears right before the eyes of the spectators although there are many variations to these tricks. The reaction of the people on the street is sometimes very comical and makes you laugh. Also many celebs make an appearance on the show.I would recommend it to anyone who would like to see some of best tricks in street magic.
Order & Disorder (2012)
A peek into the world of Thermodynamics.
The first episode reveal many interesting things about Thermodynamics and throws light on the Second Law of Thermodynamics, Carnot theorem and entropy. For someone who has even a little bit knowledge about thermodynamics it will be very interesting and all the interesting and fascinating facts about the scientists make it more enjoyable.
The second episode is about Information and it's significance in science and technology it very successfully explains what information means and how powerful it can be.The best part was about Maxwell's Demon.
It is nicely presented and use of thermal imagery makes it more interesting. All in all a very nice presentation by BBC.
Arrow (2012)
Nice show but lacks solid performances.
I was excited at first when I saw the pilot episode but gradually the allure faded as the story progressed, the acting by Stephen Amell acts as Green Arrow seems pretty lame and the way he walks and fights seems artificial to me. The dialogues seem to be a copy from Dark Knight Trilogy and there is no need for such. The best thing about him is that physique wise he looks perfect as Green Arrow. The actors also fail to make an impression. The only thing good about the show is the main story and the mystery of the island. Some characters just come and go without making an impression and the romantic and family relations part of the show is very boring and sucks out all the action. Although the latest was episode awesome and gave the story a new twist. I hope the show will improve as a whole when it returns on 16.1.13.
