Excellent movie with touching, new story line
5 June 2014
I had the pleasure to attend the world premier at the Seattle International Film Festival last night. This movie was great. The story line is original with the moral being 'what does it matter if someone is gay or straight, just love who you love'. Nia and Jason work flawlessly together and we learned at the premier that much of the dialog was off script. When the writer say "they made it funnier" you know there was magic.

I think my favorite character, next to Lloyd, was Carrie. She breaks the beautiful, popular, cheerleader mode flawlessly. Even I could of been friends with her!

I don't have a lot of experience writing reviews but I really want to support this independent project so, just go see it and judge for yourself!

The Groomsmen (2006)

Excellent story about family
3 June 2006
Fresh from the Seattle International Film Festival --

The Groomsmen is a poignant look at relationships and forgiveness; true friendship, spousal, sibling, parent-child, and ex's. It provides a great blend of comedy and drama to not be too heavy, yet stay truly thought provoking. At times the character development scenes were a bit long, but forgivable overall. The cast is amazing, you easily forget their previously roles and see them only as the lifelong friends that they portray in this movie. The soundtrack is an excellent trip back to the rock of the 80's with the likes of Loverboy and Eddie Money. I would recommend this movie to women and men alike. It has something for everybody!

Thank you, Matt, for visiting us in Seattle!

Delightful...except for one thing
13 November 2004
Overall, as a true Bridget fan, I loved the movie. My only complaint was Bridget's wardrobe. First off, since when is 130 pounds considered fat? A point mentioned a few too many times for my tastes. Even so, as someone that is slightly larger then the character was portrayed in the movie, come on people...being plump does not mean you have to be frumpy. Pick up any Lane Bryant catalog and find some great dressed, not size 5 women. Everything she put on was one to two sizes small. YUCK!

But that aside, it was a true Bridget movie. It loses some of the charm of the book due to time constraints (and the fact you can't very well have Bridget interview one of the stars of the movie as himself - Colin Firth). But the movie for what it is, a sequel to the happily ever after first movie, is a perfect match. Bridget and Mark are charming and Daniel is the perfect irresistible cad. I do miss that most of the romantic moves on Mark's part were off camera, but the pre-fight and fight with Daniel brings home and makes real the feelings he has for Bridget. Not to mention how outrageously funny the fight was.

While the Thai prison scenes may have been unrealistic they did a great job of exhibiting why Bridget is so irresistible and that is her ability to put a light, humorous spin on the worst of situations.
