Mumbai Diaries (2021)
Perfectly done. Don't believe the low ratings
It is a well made series with a stellar cast that knocks it out of the park with their disciplined performance. The low ratings are majorly given by that section of society who want anything but harmony. Please avoid them! Do watch it!
London Confidential (2020)
Predictable AF
Please avoid this one. Poor execution and mediocre performances sum it up. A thriller which is predictable should not be called a thriller. It is a mockery of the genre.!
Drive (2019)
Wasted! Even NFS Most Wanted (2005) game had better graphics!
The reason why it had no theatrical release lies in the fact that it's a half-hearted attempt at making a heist movie with lots of Tokyo drift & Dhoom series involved.
The VFX is awful along with the story that tries too hard to include twists but falls flat on it's face! Sushant is good though while Jackeline looks delightful. Boman Irani and Pankaj Tripathi are wasted.!
A good song "Makhna" saves the day. The other songs are just unnecessary inclusions and hence, the length is close to 2h30min which is way too much for this kind of wannabe heist drama!
War (2019)
Good One-Time Watch!
The much awaited action thriller 'War' starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff waa released yesterday. The big budget action films in India have a tried and tested formula and War goes by the book for a major part of the script.
With high octane action sequences be it with aeroplanes or bike chases or drifting in the Arctic circle in Audi R8s and two dance numbers, a great background score and beautiful locations, this movie ticks all the boxes.
However, the story is not something very intelligent but has enough twists which put this film way above average! The length could've been shorter though. I loved the first half but the second half is where the film actually derails.
Hrithik Roshan has always been the best when it comes to action and he is breathtaking as Kabir Luthra (same first name of a hero). The guy lits up the screen with his stirring persona. Tiger Shroff impresses with his action and surprisingly, with his dialogue delivery too. Vaani Kapoor is a good eye candy while Ashutosh Rana is wasted due to the low screen presence.
The film does justice to it's genre and makes for a compelling one time watch. If you like MI, F&F and all sort of action movies, don't miss out this one. Recommended!
Bard of Blood (2019)
Good but not great!
Bard of Blood is a political espionage thriller that is based on a book with the same name by Bilal Siddiqi.
Produced by SRK's Red Chiilies Entertainment, this Netflix original stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead role supported beautifully by Vineet Singh, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jaideep Ahlawat and others.
The story is good however, the execution is not very great. It has been shot delightfully even though the narrative is confusing for some parts. A surprise element towards the end saves it for the otherwise lack of grip in the script. The hand to hand combat sequences are nice though. I, for some reason binge watched the whole season that has 7 episodes of 45 min each.
Emraan Hashmi is a great actor and he carries himself nicely as Kabir Anand (I wonder why every other spy is called by this name). Sobhita Dhulipala is equally good while Vineet Singh struggles a bit with the Punjabi accent but is good overall. The rest of the cast is on point.
Had there been a less convoluted transition of events, this would have been at par with the other series, say "The Family Man". It is good if not great!
Kaabil (2017)
Best revenge thriller! Hrithik slays it.
Hrithik Roshan is back to the silver screen again after a short gap of 6 months with a heart wrenching, gripping and engaging revenge thriller that gets most things right except a few clichés.
Kaabil will be remembered as one of the finest revenge thrillers for the fact that the protagonist is blind but is so strong in his actions that he can put people with eyes to shame.
Since I never saw how blind people date, I feel that the film starts really slow but picks up nicely after the first 30 minutes. The second half is the real showdown between the hero and the anti- hero(es) and is the most enjoyable one.
Full marks to Hrithik Roshan as he gives a splendid performance and like always carries the complete film on his shoulders with Ronit and Rohit Roy playing antagonists.
Yami Gautam gets type-casted once again. Girish kulkarni and Narendra Jha provide great support to the cast.
That said, Kaabil is for people who like classy commercial cinema.
Bhoothnath Returns (2014)
Not a Kid's affair anymore..
To cut it very short, Bhoothnath Returns has the spark. Considering the present scenario in India related to the elections, only half of the population practices their right to vote and so, this flick emphasizes mainly on the topic of elections and voting in them.
The message is good and the way it is conveyed is very good. It has the ingredients of a commercial movie and yet it does not derail from its path. The child artist Parth is phenomenal and when Sr. Bachchan is there in a lead role, you cannot ask for anything else.
Overall, a watchable flick. Had there been a shorter run time, it could have joined the big league. Nevertheless, it is entertaining!
Do watch it! Recommended!
