Greenland (2020)
7/10
Intense, scary, and entertaining
8 February 2021
Far from perfect, but scary in a way that only disaster can be. With some good tension, some emotions moments, and some effective action scene, i think Greenland worked pretty well for what it is supposed to be. The cast was great and i really liked our characters, this was a family worth rooting for. I do think it would have benefits for being a bit shorter, the middle section dragged a bit but was saved by the strong first and third acts.

Simply creepy
1 February 2021
There's not alot of horror movies that still give me chills and i don't know if it's being i'm tired, and alone, and in the dark, but this movie freaked me out. It's simple, it feels authentic, and the *ghost* footage is creepy. Plus, the emotional aspect of it all was really well played. There's twist and turns and some great moments. Definitely would recommend.

Bugs and gore
30 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I went in knowing nothing and it felt like being punch in the face. This took me by surprised. The storyline itself is pretty simple, a good old ghost revenge story. The acting is A+ and the characters are actually interesting. but when things get started, wow. i was not expecting how dark it would get. i'm talking dead children, not only dead, but like torture. and the effects are fantastic. The gore alone makes this movie worth watching. With the eerie atmosphere, the uncertain ending and all those horrifying moments, i was completely hooked.

Fun, intense and entertaining

Dang, that was good. Really wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as i did, but i literally couldn't take my eyes off the screen (Could be because Dan Stevens is freaking PERFECTION here). Not one dull moment, it's intriguing from the start, up to the last second. The build up of tension is so good and than boom, all hell breaks lose for the finale arc. What a ride. Why i didn't watch this soon is a mystery, but i'm so glad i finally did.

Crappy dialogues, crappy acting, fun gore, and some weird moments, this was trashy entertainment at it's finest

It will scare you, and you will enjoy every second of it
23 January 2021
This movie is abit hard to describe. Basically, a couple of houses from the same street are being haunted at the same time by something dark.

I loved it.

LOVED IT.

This movie is creepy as hell. The visual only is worth a watch. i mean, the horror factor is high and from the start. it got me hooked within the first like 10 minutes and didn't let me go. the creepiness is effective because it's stays away from annoying jump scares and cheap effets. No, this one uses imagery directly from our nightmares, and horrifying practical effects. It does exactly what you want a good horror movie to do. it scares you. And you will enjoy every second of it. The characters were all likable and well acted. My only one little thing that stops it from getting a 5 stars is maybe the storyline itself. Not that it was bad, because it was awesome. I just wished we knew more, that they explained the situation in more details. I loved the idea, but i think it needed abit more work to make those stories fit together. Because the first 2/3 are almost anthology-like, and the last arc ties it up. and that's the part that needed more work.

But hey, i'm really just being picky. This movie was fantastic.

I would highly recommend

Bear attack > bad editing
23 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I really disliked how it was filmed, that camera work was awful... and gosh, nothing happens for like a full hour and when the action actually starts you can barely appreciate it because of the editing. There's no point in having what i think was great gore if we can see it.... and after that ONE event, it's mostly just her running in the woods.

straightforward

Nat Wolff has been ruined for me by the Death Note movie, i can't take him seriously. Overall, nothing great here, some cool kills, but a pretty straightforward revenge haunting story

The Rental (2020)

Beautifully underwhelming
23 January 2021
The Rental's only problem i feel like is the story itself. Not that i hated it. There's just a lot of character drama, not enough horror elements and for a little while, i was feeling abit underwhelmed by it. The movie for sure got my attention with a strong opening : the cast, the location, the direction, it was all promising, but than nothing happens with this. There's no meat to the script, which is really sad because with such a good cast, magic could have been done here for sure! Visuals are absolutely stunning and that house was gorgeous, add in the fog and the sounds of the sea and bang, you got yourself a perfect setting! Glad i watched it, probably won't rewatch it, but excited to see more of Dave Franco in the director's chair.
