Cruel Intentions 3 (2004)
Very much the same as CI
After the dismal performance of CI2 the makers decided to release a third instalment in the series, only that it is straight to video this time.
Nothing much has changed in terms of storyline; the students are still very horny and place huge bets on deflowering one another, only this time round there is a few more occasions involving backstabbings and slightly more twists than the original. The twists do work, however, and makes the movie actually watchable, despite its lack of attractive leads and well-concealed sex scenes.. anyway that's what most people watch it for right?
The cast are OK, only the dialogue doesn't seem so fresh anymore, with much of it saturated with talks on how important sex is etc. nonetheless it is still enjoyable, and worth 6/10.
Young Adam (2003)
Dark
Fans of Ewan Mcgregor may not like his role in Young Adam, where he isn't exactly a nice guy. He plays a young drifter who seems to cause any woman who has seen him to fall in love with him. He has several sexual encounters with a number of them, without feeling a sense of guilt.
The story focuses on the murder of a young girl and as the story unfolds the relationship between her and ewan is gradually revealed, along with Ewan's character. A decent character study of innocence loss in a guy (Ewan), hence the title Young Adam.
The cast is generally good, with Tilda Swinton giving the best performance among the rest, as a bored and nonchalant wife. Overall this is a grim movie, with a grim ending. 7/10
South Park (1997)
Rather amusing..
South park traces the adventures of 4 elementary school kids and the people around them. Stan, the most 'normal' boy of the four, has loving parents and a sister who bullies him all the time. Kyle is the intelligent one but it isn't surprising since it runs in his family. Kenny is poor and dies in several episodes only to be resurrected after that without fail. cartman is the obnoxious spoilt anti-hippies kid who is used to get everything he wants. These four kids always find themselves embroiled in a sticky situation, sometimes those that are so serious that they concern the whole world, but always get out of them unscathed (except maybe kenny). south park is filled with humour that gets very offensive, but i've to admit they are generally funny. it makes references to almost everything from religion, latest hypes, politics and various famous characters and exaggerates on them so much that it's amusing. Some episodes does not seem to have any message to convey, yet they're still fun to watch, cheap animations aside.
