Troy (2004)
Epic? Sure...
As it has been said, "Troy" has a lot in common with "Lord of The Rings". Specially, that in the screen they are completely different than what you read. In LOTR, you'll cry if you read the movie and the books.
If you have read "The Iliad", you would find unexplainable why some characters appears as "good" or "bad" or just martyrs. It has some weird camera approaches, but a great sound and effects.
There also some 'fun facts' of ancient Greek civilization being exposed, but people basically won't understand some customs and also it has a quick untie.
Nevertheless, both LOTR and Troy are great approaches to epic stories, and are fun and entertaining. It's great to see at the cinema.
Cube 2: Hypercube (2002)
Great movie, great philosophical and mathematical plot
I saw both Cube and Hypercube (that's the first and the second parts of Cube), which impressed me a lot the first time I saw them. The first movie is a very nice and simple thriller which had a really low budget (and they used it very nicely). It has some action and shocking moments, and a vague philosophical background. However, Hypercube has something more cultivated behind the movie. Now there's a mathematical - physical background in there, as the Hypercube is a cube taken to the fourth dimension (which is currently not tangible in classic physics). It has great scenes, a low budget (again), but really well invested, new film sets and the thriller is still there.
Amaneció de golpe (1998)
A terrible movie, but curious for the actual world
The movie basically shows the events of February 4th, 1992, where a group of venezuelan military did an unfinished Coup d' Etat against right wing government of Carlos Andrés Pérez. Coup was leaded by the current President of Venezuela, Commander Hugo Chávez, from the Parachuters Army. It's a typical venezuelan movie from the 90's, where action and routinary scenes are filmed (like the one with people at the airport bathroom, talking simply with some insults and curses) Not a good movie, but simply curious because Chávez is one of the most controversial Presidents Venezuela has had and one of the most controversial at Latin America as well. The movie does not show the actual political and social background of the movement, just some action and curious (and funny, for the venezuelan people) political stuff at the government's side.
