Tulsa King (2022)
Can't get past the extremely unrealistic writing
I wanted to like the show and thought Stallone did a good job with what he was given, but overall, the plot bends reality too far. The problem is that the writing makes no sense. There is just no way that Stallones character wouldn't be back in jail by the end of the first episode in any even remotely realistic scenario.
An old man assaulting multiple people would get reported to the cops with the result being a quick trip back to prison. I just can't believe that people would be too scared to report him or that they would just let his bad behavior go without consequence. The show would have been much better served by having Stallones character use charm and cunning to get what he wants instead of violence.
Spin Me Round (2022)
I'm not really sure what the movie is trying to be
After watching, I have little idea of what the movie was trying to do. About the only takeaway I had was the feeling that I had just wasted my time. The plot was not particularly interesting and for the most part didn't make a lot of sense. I guess the film was attempting to be a comedy, but it just wasn't funny enough to justify that classification. Alison Brie's presence raised my rating by 2-3 stars, but other than her there wasn't much about the movie I can recommend.
Big Sky (2020)
First season = 7 stars, second season = 3 stars
The first season had enough weirdness and interesting plot lines to be worth watching. Unfortunately, rather than starting over with all new stories they decided to try to hold onto way too much and ended up with a show that is neither interesting or good.
In from the Cold (2022)
Doesn't live up to potential due to bad writing
The show seems like it could be good, but the writing is just plain poor. It seemed like the only focus was on the action, which led to largely ignoring plot development. There are just too many instances where things make no sense with the show spending no time trying to make the audience understand.
Without Remorse (2021)
The title is deceptive, the movie is not based on the Tom Clancy book
The movie was not great, but the biggest issue is with the deceptive title. The plot of the movie has virtually nothing to do with the Tom Clancy book with the same name. Anyone hoping for movie version of the book is going to be very disappointed.
Clarice (2021)
Flashbacks kill this show
The show uses flashbacks to a ridiculous degree in this series. The problem is that most (if not all) add little to the story. I have no idea what benefit there is to show similar flashbacks over and over again when their link to the current situation is usually tenuous at best.
