Man vs. Bee (2022)

Why a bee?
26 June 2022
I've watched the first episode so far and find it quite funny, however, not to sound like a spoilsport, but why choose an insect that's necessary to pollinate the planet and is dying off in unprecented numbers to wage war against? Why not choose a wasp, or a grasshopper or whatever else to be the antagonist? Just saying.

What's all the negativity about
6 June 2022
I don't agree with most of the critics here, I thought the movie was quite entertaining from a typical action plot scenerio (aka terrorist threat, nuclear missile threat, white house under threat, whole world under threat etc.)! The notable difference here is that the "hero" is female! Really? How many blockbuster franchises thrived with the exact same ridiculous plot lines, the Die hard franchise comes to mind, as does the Indiana jones, James bond, etc. Must I go on? Yes, the plot was just as ridiculous as the aforementioned are but I enjoyed it just as much as the aforementioned! The only thing they screwed up on was that the main character was Spanish with a notable accent (i'm not casting aspersions, just saying, and then realizing she's the wife of Chris Hemsworth who's hilarious as the TV sales person, but it really makes no sense, unless you put into the plot that she was adopted as a ten year old or something, as her dad clearly had no accent whatsoever! The other critizism I have is why did the "Marine helicopters" never arrive? I mean really? They were promised constantly, oh, they're 90 minutes out (in the beginning, not enough time, then they were supposedly 10 minutes out toward the end and they just never materialized! After researching, I realize the production was on a very limited budget and giving it slack for that, I really enjoyed this movie, give it a go!

Worst movie I've seen in a long time!
8 January 2022
No need to even go into details, I haven't finished watching, 16 minutes left, I figured out who did it literally from the moment the kid disappeared, my guess is revenge (maybe some daughter given up for adoption or somehow neglected by other means?) Who cares really, after all, this is a really bad movie with really bad acting (this is saying a lot for me, I generally really like even cheap TV suspense movies), well, I guess I'll suffer through the last 16 minutes, don't bother even starting this rubbish, is my advise.

Very effective Ghost story
21 November 2021
I just watched it, brilliantly done, the scares are incredible, I sat there with my eyes "sort of" covered for lots of it, I thought I had figured it all out halfway through the movie, yes, somewhat but... and then some! Great acting and satisfactory explanation in the end unlike some horror movies you sit through and scratch your head in the end, would definitely recommend!

Gripping
11 November 2021
I thought it was pretty egde of your seat once his secret was revealed! I don't know how to describe it other than a thrill ride with an uncertain outcome! I loved the way it was all resolved in the end! Great acting, great plot, great movie, oh, and loved the song at the very end "a tombstone every mile", even though I have no clue what that had to with the plot.

Brilliant
26 October 2021
This movie should be an instant classic of the genre and if word gets out it will be. To the naysayer critics out there who probably mostly enjoy big budget, action packed productions a la Independence day, you are dead wrong! There is nothing that is boring about this movie, as the storyline suggested they were going to find "something", so I waited for it with baited breath! The interpersonal relationships are intriguing (if at times a bit over the top, especially towards the end, but this takes nothing away from the brilliant plot), the cast is superb and so is the musical score which helps to build tension and soothes during the more intense "buddy" moments. The plot is riveting and the last 30 minutes or so are edge of your seat viewing! I scrolled by this movie several times and I'm glad I finally watched it! A must see and the only reason I gave it 9 stars was because for some reason it wouldn't let me give 10! And no, this is not a fake review.

Here we go again
10 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is overall a brilliantly done thriller with superb acting all around, the drawback (and the reason for my 8 star rating rather than a 10) is the ending! When we find out that Craig is actually really Eddie I had been expecting it and was not happy about it! The trend in these newer British thrillers seems to be that in the end the hugely likable character who we all felt sorry for turns out to be the bad guy after all! (See Deadwater Fell and at least one other one I can't remember the name of now). The so-called "twist" is becoming the expected norm and I for one don't like it!

Brillant, needs a second season
5 October 2021
I was sucked into this show within the first few minutes. The characters are rich and diverse as each person's back story and their individual demons are slowly revealed. I watched the first 6 episodes in one sitting last night and as it got too late had to finish the last two episodes today. The series has the nailbiting, somewhat claustrophobic and sometimes frustrating tension as similar shows, such as the handmaid's tale for example, the similarity being loss of control over one's life. This is an edge of your seat thriller with excellent performances by the cast, the reason I'm rating it 9 stars instead of 10 is the ending. The last episode felt rushed and slightly confusing with too many subplots happening. The not so pleasant twist in the end I could have done without, unless of course there will be another season which I certainly hope for! Otherwise, one feels almost let down after all the emotional investment!

Great movie
3 October 2021
I just cringe when I see some of these comments..."can't you make the ending more satisfying?" Well yes, the ideal endings for most people who get excecuted would be not to get excecuted I guess, alas, as this is not a politcal platform or discussion I'll shut up about that subject, but, the movie is moving and brilliant, the performances are outstanding, hmm, as I'm probably not allowed to elaborate I rest my case.

Way better than portrayed
27 September 2021
I watched this movie last night based largely on the reviews from here (well, truth be told, I've discovered some hidden gems over the years disparaged by Rotten Tomatoes, so, I was inclined to watch it anyway)! I absolutely loved it! Yes, I have to wholeheartedly agree with the positive reviews, it may not exactly be "laugh out loud" comedy throughout, but it conveys a very concise and sarcastic message which the folks on rotten tomatos may have just missed! Ricky Gervais, as per usual, is the master of dry, self deprecating humour and I would classify it as quite funny anyway! It will definitely leave you with a smile and I highly recommend it!

Alright but...
8 September 2021
I just watched this movie based on the rating and I generally like the genre. I actually found it quite bleak and boring, stopped it several times to see how much more there was to go, the 122 minute duration felt like an eternity! I fail to understand the 100% enthusiasm from Rotten Tomatos, the whole premise and reveal is actually quite depressing, someone compared this to the Twilight Zone, I have all 156 episodes of that masterpiece and this movie doesn't even come close! It's not horrible, hence my rating of 5 stars, but I have a hard time recommending it!

Pretty good
18 July 2021
I agree with a previous comment, why all the hate? I must admit I almost gave up on this movie after reading all the negative reviews and the fact that it gets a bit brutal about 30 to 45 minutes in (no spoilers as to plot), but oh, does it get gripping again after a major twist and from then on it's quite a ride! I had no problems with the acting (I thought the characters were convincing, if at times a tiny bit contrived), plot or music (as was suggested by some critics) and I think overall it was very well done considering (I imagine) a fairly small budget. In conclusion, I really like it and would definitely recommend.

Absolutely hillarious
26 June 2021
I usually can't stand Will Ferrel and was very reluctant to watch this movie for that reason after a friend suggested it. I finally relented and have to say this has to be the funniest movie I ever watched, a definite tie with (and maybe even funnier than..) Young Frankenstein! I laughed for hours afterward just thinking about it! A must watch if you're after a good laugh!

Oh my
6 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok, I really liked this movie and the performances until it came to the baby part! What? I honestly thought she was faking a pregnancy, which would have been a more fitting storyline, given the whole scenerio! All of a sudden, (after she looks about 4 or 5 months pregnant at most, trust me, I've had three kids, I know all about this, she supposedly goes into labor after being rebuked by her boy friend Greg over a scary mural she painted in the baby's room)in the bathroom and refuses medical help!?! Ok, next scene is that she supposedly gave birth and there is an actual baby, umm, really? How exactly did this whole process take place? Not addressed at all! Unless I missed it during a bathroom break which I doubt because I generally pause! Then (after obviously not breastfeeding for several weeks) Greg finds some pills that "supposedly" supress lactation, again, umm, right, if you don't breastfeed from the get go, your milk generally dries up within days, that is, after your milk actually comes in after the colostrum! Ok, sorry, don't mean to gross anyone out, but after the baby part this movie lost me, I have to agree with the negative reviews which suggest that the positive reviews were "bought", there is just way too much storyline here, they started out with a very good premise, I thought the protaganist's aloof portrayal of a detached killer was very good initially and how effectively she manipulated the various characters along the way (even though I was a bit disappointed in the guy in the suit who obviously had some relation to Greg's ex girl friend), normally this is where they say, something odd here, we'll investigate! That didn't happen here, and of course 9 times out of ten that cop happens (if he investigates) to either find the killer or meet his fate🤣🤣, no, too much storyline, her history never gets explored and who cares, everybody winds up dead in the end except the baby ( I'm surprised at that actually)and the alcoholic mother, oh hang on, and the actual killer! No, don't bother!

Riveting and must see
26 April 2021
My critique may be a bit premature as I only just finished episode 4, I would watch the whole thing if it wasn't nearly 2am and I have engagements in the morning! What more can I say? Absolutely riveting and brilliant! There was one person who complained about the translation and said that the acting was "very poor" and gave it one star! I'd say ignore that and watch it!

Hmm for all the negative reviews
3 April 2021
When I read the reviews about "boring, slow moving, "finger wagging about climate change" I have to shake my head! This movie kept me on the edge of my seat throughout! Not only is it presenting a brilliant mystery (of course about a third through the movie we suspect one certain character to have somewhat nefarious motives, no spoilers, but as in any good mystery we can't quite figure it out yet!) the acting is suberb, the plot is brilliant, the ending is thoroughly satisfying and explanatory and frankly leaves you teary eyed!

Just because this is not a Hollywood blockbuster movie does not make it bad or inferior! I for one loved this movie. I give it two enthusiastic thumbs up and would highly recommend!

Really scary
28 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I found the movie, although obviously low budget quite scary and therefore I think it should be classified as horror, rather than thriller, in my humble opinion! As I am from the generation of the first Halloween movie I find the idea of an "actual person" used to portray the antagonist or whoever he may turn out to be (rather than an indication of how low budget this movie is as one critic suggested) quite refreshing and super scary! Yes, there are several flaws in the storyline ( the girl's mysterious symptoms and illness, which are never explained, the miraculous cure in the end, the inexplicable behaviour of the bar goons going on the "beating up" rampage because they're obviously not involved in any cover-up, Violet's death) and the over the top aggressive acting of some characters, especially the sheriff, oh dear, he should get a razzie, whoever played him! His son, whoever the actor is should be a close second, does not make a horrible movie though! I like a good old fashioned murder mystery even with a ghost involved. The inconsistent blending of timelines (note the older car models, the fact that no one has a cell phone and phone conversations are made and received via rotary phones, etc., yet the characters clothing suggest a contemporary timeline)may be a metaphor the director tried to convey? Who knows, all in all, I quite enjoyed the movie!
