What the heck was all the fuss about?

Seriously? Did I miss something here?

This movie was billed as a hit when it came out, and although it does have a couple of "moments", and considering the cast, it just never seemed to click with me. I really expected better.

Disappointing for a Pixar

Story was bleh. Music was bleh. Characters were bleh. Humour was meh.

I don't know who wrote this pile of poop, but it just felt off as a coming-of-age film, and the lack of decent characterization didn't help any.

Hard science fiction movies can be a bit hard to understand on occasion, and this was no exception

Innocence of youth

Mom and I watched this movie last night. Cute film.

When I first read the synopsis I was surprised and pleased to note that this was a reboot of La Guerre des Tuques (the Dog Who Stopped the War), which we had been made to watch back in my elementary school days as part of our obligatory French Immersion process by the QC government, and despite that, had still enjoyed.

This reboot is just as good, if not better, when it comes to ensuring all-ages enjoyment.

Expected better

With two risings stars of this calibre, I expected a much better movie. The whole plot felt shallow and insipid. None of the supporting characters offered up much to flesh out Sandra and Hugh's and the one-liners from Hugh just felt flat and awkwardly timed.

Not as good the second time round

I saw this movie years ago, and found it to be a wonderfully realistic depiction of an individual coming to terms with her addictions while at a treatment centre. For lack of anything I sat down and watched it again last night with my family, and although I still enjoyed it, I felt that it fell short of the mark. That it had not addressed the issue of addiction as a disease as well as it could have, and that it failed to utilize the majority of the secondary characters to help showcase the types and/or the roots of their addictions and their cost, not only to the secondary characters but to their families as well.

Excellent surprise sequel

Warning: Spoilers
McAvoy is fantastic playing a modern day version of Cybil, who was the original poster child for Multiple Personality Disorders , or DID as it's referred to now.

James McAvoy plays Kevin Crumb, who with the help of his Doctor, Karen Fletcher manages 23 unique personalities so that he can retain some independence in the outside world. Unfortunately, Kevin's personality has been asleep since 2015, allowing most of the other personalities to share what is referred to as the light. Now two of the most malevolent ones, Kevin and Patricia have taken charge, and together with a third personality Hedwig, a 9 year old "boy", they have kidnapped three high school girls and are working together to birth a malevolent 24th personality into existence, one who's power will eclipse thr average human.

The fact that this movie references Unbreakable really left me gobsmacked, and then I heard there was in fact, a third part, called Glass, coming out 2019

Could have used a bit tighter plot
22 October 2018
When an arms deal goes wrong, both sides start shooting, but things take a real twist when an unknown third group enters the fray.

Some truly interesting characters stand out, but as the title to my review already states, a sharper plot would have better defined the rest of them.

Great film. Reminded me of our old Hide-and-Seek games. Of course, without the very angry blind ex-soldier trying to kill us to prevent a big secret from leaving his house.

not one of the better Disney's
18 August 2018
Yeah, this was not one of the better Disney animated movies I've seen over the course of my years. Probably due to the weak and occasionally obnoxious soundtrack that made getting through some of the scenes a real struggle to not turn the video player off

Bit of a yawner
4 August 2018
Despite some of the reviews posted, I have to say I found this film kind of dull.

All the characters were wooden and two dimensional, with the exception of Line herself. No depth, no real reason to care about any of them. Heck, I don't think I can remember more than three names, and one of them is Coach.

Story itself was adequately paced, but included some plot details that went nowhere and would have been better left out.
