Fart: A Documentary (2016)
A Bit Long Winded
Well...
It's a documentary about farts-about the acceptance(or lack thereof) of one of our bodily functions.
It's interesting-for the first 30 minutes and then it just gets old.
Now I can say I've seen a film about farting.
Guns on the Clackamas: A Documentary (1995)
Don't Eat the Macaroni Salad!
Being a long time of Mr. Plympton's animations for over 30 years, I had to give his mockumentary a chance...and boy it's just as precious as his animated gifts.
I mean this film is very very silly-don't expect Spinal Tap or And God Spoke; but do expect a very low budget comedic romp that doesn't take itself seriously.
Throw your mind out of the window and enjoy this hidden gem!
Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP (2011)
A Decent Doc for a Band You Maybe Never Heard Of
This is a tale of a trio(from Olympia, Washington-home to many other great bands-UnWound, The Melvins, Beat Happening) and how their friendship turned into one of the biggest under the radar bands of the mid to late 90's.
It's the usual fare of the rise and demise of a band; but the actual performances of KARP are worth it's weight in gold. I always am a sucker for a good "rock doc"-and this one doesn't disappoint(just don't expect anything groundbreaking).
Shin Gojira (2016)
Not Your Father's Mindless Godzilla
Being a longtime fan of the series, this was a breath fresh of air than the usual focus more on the action sequences with the beast(s). This is methodical, thinking man's journey into what could happen if a natural(or unnatural) disaster would occur.
What really made me enjoy this even more is the tension filled discussions on how to take down this monster; along with Japan's history of war & natural disasters.
Great script, superb CGI, and a killer soundtrack rounds out this seldom mentioned diamond in the rough.
