Céline et Julie vont en bateau: Phantom Ladies Over Paris (1974)
Where Alice meets Julie and the rabbit becomes the past?
The traditional story of 2 women attempting to save a little girl from the craziness of growing up is turned on its head in this unique tale. The first 2 hours of the film are tiresome and you wish that it would have ended before it started but by the end of the film (over 3 hours in length) you are glad that the story has an outcome and are so engrossed into the story then you even hope the little fish in the apartment has a good ending. I suggest that the movie is an attempt for us to see the world of Céline and Julie as Céline and Julie saw the scenes in the house, from a disjointed perspective of bits and pieces strewn together by little green candies(this is not a drug film rather the candies are like memory pills that would help an elderly person remember things that his old age had suppressed). If you are looking for a movie about boating go somewhere else but remember that the boating scene reflects heavily on the transformation of their universe as it looks into the future. Is it all a game and does it repeat at the end? I do not have the answers but I suggest that you watch and find out for yourself.
The acting is okay (not the best but it feels real and not scripted), there are Alice and Wonderland references in many places including most of the first 4 minutes, the camera angels are cool at times and make you sea sick at others, the sound effects (expecially from the cars/transportation) are louder than my ears would like but not too loud as to cause hearing loss and the music (when there is music) works well, and the plot (what ever you find that to be for yourself) is a wonderful mix of classic storytelling, blurred flashback moments, brief flashback moments, interesting cab rides, interesting character development, cats, jump cuts, psychic montages, long shots, and just plain silliness and funny confusion.
Is this a Comedy or a Drama... You tell me because I do not know!
Key: The Metal Idol (1994)
What a wonderful Joy! (May contain spoilers???)
I would say that 80% of Japanese Animation is crap just like 80% of American Animation is Crap.
Anyway! Key is a unique series that focuses on the emotionless aspects of the increasingly technological world. Its main Star, Key, makes a transitional journey from Robot to Human and in the end finds the answer that she was human all along. (Although most people may miss that) The first 13 episodes are worthy of a 95/100 and focus on the supporting cast and their relationships with key.. Although the main character, we view Key through the emotions of the supporting cast and their efforts to understand and assist or destroy Key.
Not like other Mech Animation, Key has less of a technological feel and presents more of the harsh realities of attempting to discover what it means to be human.
Some people have said that the final 2 episodes (95 minutes each) are not as good as the first 13. I give them a 85/100. They are enjoyable and I liked the outcome as well. Will you be a friend of Key!
Gekijôban Poketto Monsutâ: Myûtsû no Gyakushû (1998)
Much better than anything in recent memory but nevertheless a waste of energy and time.
Once, back in the care free 1990's, there was a little video game that swept the hearts and minds of children everywhere. The game was Pokemon, and as the Pokemon world grew, television shows and movies followed the "pocket Monsters" everywhere. The animation looks poor and the pokemon look like cardboard cutouts. The story repeats its self every episode. And yet, for some reason, the children are hooked, and rightfully so. Pokemon teaches children valuable lessons about the world. It teaches children how to get along with others, and lessons of peace and love. Go Pokemon Go!

Kuiudi baishisu (1995)
An interesting journey into the mind of the perverse.(**Spoilers**)
Free speech has often tested the bounds of conventional thought. Never has one movie shattered the bounds of what is appropriate in such a way. Yes this movie has graphic violence and sexual situations that make you scream out in horror. Yes this movie takes sex to levels that should never be experienced by anyone. Yes this film is Animated. Be cautious, because this film is not for people under 21, or people who can't handle anything stronger than a Showtime Porno film of the exorcist. This movie will make you sick to your stomach. (As I threw up twice during viewing). There are 8 Episodes ranging from beast on girl, to girl's being raped and tortured, and physical harm. Normally one rates a movie on how they liked the movie, if I did that it would get a low score.(keep in mind that 5/10 is a high raring for me!) But this movie pushed the boundaries to places I never thought possible in the art world. You either hate it with all your soul or hate it but tolerate it because of free speech!
Animation 8/10 Story 4/10-9/10 depending Un-Christian content 100% Pushing the envelope 10/10
Finding Nemo (2003)
Whats up with the missing or dead parent thing.
Lets take a look. Finding nemo had no mother because she died. Toy story had no Father. Beauty and the beast had no mother. Simba (Kimba) lost his father. And yet there is no explination or coming to terms with the missing parents (I don't think Simba came to terms with anything). I disliked this movie because it seemed like the same old Disney rant of some one is in trouble and needs help cause they're lost. Guess I just like good animation with an excellent story. Story is a 1/10... animation is a 8/10... Have a good day. Yeah!. Fun! Watch Totoro instead. !
