Return of the Apes
21 May 2024
Planet of the Apes movie series is long-lived because the first movie premiered no less than 68 years ago. Movies have always had unique names. This time, the movie is called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. Was I excited when I heard that the movie series is getting a sequel? Of course! I like watching these movies, and I'm sure many people agree. The film is almost 2 and a half hours long, which I didn't like so much. The movie continues rather elegantly, concluding the story of the previous installment. The new movie brings the story toward the world of the story that was in the 1968 movie, and that is good. The world looks wonderful and leaves the viewer to ponder where the adventure is now. CGI was well done, but as the Achilles' heel of modern movies, it was also overused. I would still be happy with a gorilla or monkey mask with traditional practical effects. The story moved forward but got off to a slow start. The movie's themes are the relationship between monkeys and humans and the lust for power. The end of the movie makes you wonder how peacefully we could live and why wars are still fought. I found this movie to be an entertaining new take on a well-known film series, and it's worth checking out.

"Ghostbusters" it is, but I wanted a bit more.
4 April 2024
The film began with great promise, however, the pacing was somewhat lacking for my taste and the conclusion felt rushed. McKenna Grace delivered an outstanding performance as Phoebe Spengler, which was the highlight of the movie. Surprisingly, Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in Stranger Things, had a rather limited role. It was nostalgic to see the involvement of the original Ghostbusters actors. Nevertheless, my expectations were not fully met, as I had anticipated a more substantial and epic experience. Despite this, there are positive aspects to consider. The initial events leave room for the potential expansion of the Ghostbusters universe through prequel stories. It is my hope that this franchise will continue to be developed.

Amazing movie!
30 March 2024
**Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire** is what I went to see at the movies. I had a lot of fun with this movie. I found it to be an extremely entertaining monster movie where you don't have to think too much. Just like that. Just let the flow of images wash over you and entertain you. As I said, I had so much fun with the movie. Why did it work so well? It is a tribute to legendary monsters and great apes. CGI was used a lot, but it was well done. Now, that's what I call style! For once, monsters roared properly on the screen. This was like it was made just for me. Like a video game come to life in front of your eyes on a big screen. Fantastic! The movie made me smile and laugh. That's what happened this time. The movie did its job. One A big surprise for me. The story was thin, it must be said. But it basically didn't matter at all. One of the best movies of the year.

Dreamcatcher (2003)

A good horror-suspense movie set in snowy forests
10 January 2024
Dreamcatcher is a 2003 film based on Stephen King's book. In this movie we see a lot of different scenes with familiar Stephen King elements. A snowstorm, isolation, terrible creatures, imagination, the battle between good and evil. I think the casting in the film is excellent, with Tom Sizemore and Morgan Freeman playing the most famous roles. Freeman's role was excellent and slightly different from his most typical roles. While watching the movie, I noticed clear references to other well-known movies. At least The Shining, The Thing, Stand By Me and IT came to mind. There is a clear revival of nostalgia and references to the 80s in the film. I thought the story worked really well. A special mention must be given to the child actors who really look like younger versions of the leading actors. The end of the movie is good and the length of the movie is just right. If you like horror and horror movies set in a snowy forest, this could be your movie. Not everyone liked this, a matter of taste. This is a movie that really worked for me. A really underrated movie in my opinion.

A movie with one of the endings of all time
20 November 2023
There are a lot of movies I haven't seen. I've seen a lot of bad, a lot of good. You rarely see really good movies in the end and you wonder why only now. Planes, Train and Automobiles is a great movie. It tells a great story about friendship and situations in life where a friend is needed. The movie has genuinely funny scenes and the scenes are genius. There is never a dull moment. The movie is wonderfully scripted. This is the masterful work of John Candy and Steve Martin. The story made me tear up with laughter. It's also really touching and the end of the movie is one of the most amazing movie endings I've ever seen in my life.

Spede (2023)

Very Good in my opinion.
2 October 2023
Pertti Spede Pasanen is an icon of Finnish comedy. Together with Vesa-Matti Loiri, he created a phenomenon that everyone knows. The casting in the film was quite good and phenomenal for one role. Riku Nieminen in the role of Spede was good. He was indeed like Spede at times. However, by far the best was Vesa-Matti "Vesku" Loiri performed by Aku Sipola. I can not believe. He was like Loiri right down to his voice. I found the story of the film entertaining throughout its duration. It was a short cut of the stages of Spede's life and the stages of making the film. Here's a movie I didn't set any expectations for. The movie surprised me and I thought it was well made and I enjoyed watching it. Spede's film was hated by critics and loved by moviegoers. The same can happen with this movie.

For Super Mario fans!
17 August 2023
I've been a fan of Super Mario games almost my whole life. I could spend the day playing Super Mario Bros. 3 games for 12 hours from morning to night. It seems like it's been 30 years already. The magic hasn't gone anywhere. I can still launch the game and I'm back in Mario's world. This movie is a movie for Mario fans. It's full of Easter Eggs. Only a Mario fan will understand them all. The film is colorful and funny. I enjoyed every second. The film is also just the right length. The voice roles hit the spot. Chris Pratt as Mario and Jack Black as Bowser were especially good. I look forward to the sequel! We finally got a great game movie about a great classic character with supporting characters.

E.T. (1982)

A great movie that everyone should see.
16 August 2023
Steven Spielberg knows how to make these movies. E. T. The Extra Terrestrial is a great movie and a great story about an extraterrestrial being left on earth. It finds its way to a certain family in the suburbs. When I saw this when I was younger, the movie seemed scary at first, and in a way, E. T. is a pretty scary creature. However, the film itself is also really touching. I think the film is nicely put together. E. T is wonderfully done, this was a time when CGI, computer-generated effects, were not used much. The film's main character is Elliott played by Henry Thomas, who gets a new friend from E. T. Certain scenes in the movie will go down in history like Elliott riding a bike with E. T. in front of the moon. The movie has great themes and E. T. could be replaced by a human. The themes of the film are also friendship, loneliness, family and homesickness. I myself would like to one day E. T. once again would step on the surface of the earth. A sequel was once under consideration, but it was not made. This is a childhood movie, this is a movie from the 80s and this movie is a must see movie for all movie lovers.

A surprisingly good new agent movie
12 August 2023
This movie was an interesting breath of new. This reminded me of many movies. At first it reminded me of the Mission Impossible movies. To some extent, the tradition of James Bond films was also respected. The film moved quickly from one continent to another. Surprising plot twists were seen and naturally a pretty good villain was also present. This also reminded me of the megalomaniac plans of the villains in the Bond films. Gal Gadot's charisma carried a lot in the film. She did a good role as a new kind of agent. I have some expectations if a sequel is decided to be made. This was just the beginning. What else can a possible new movie saga offer?

An incredible film about golf and life
12 August 2023
This movie directed by Robert Redford has been one of my favorites. The Legend of Bagger Vance is a great movie with an interesting story. The film has an interesting cast. Matt Damon, Will Smith and Charlize Theron star. Bruce McGill and Joel Gretsch also have very good supporting roles. One more big name is involved, which I will tell you a little later. The film is a story about golf, It also tells about goals and the pursuit of wishes. It's also about love. What makes this movie so good? It has a calm narration, great cinematography and staging. The film has a wonderful soundtrack that supports the scenes, creating a great atmosphere. The story has an interesting beginning and end. It is easy to identify with the roles. I experienced different emotions while watching the movie, I was excited, it was very touching and I was happy for the characters. The film also features Jack Lemmon's last film appearance. He also acts as the voice of the film's narrator. With these things in mind, the closing scene of the film before the end credits sticks in my mind. I strongly recommend!

The Knocking (2022)

Good finnish movie
1 August 2023
Knocking is an interesting addition to the Finnish horror film. It's really atmospheric and haunting. There are a lot of forests in Finland and this is interesting to me. What lies in those woods? The film doesn't rely so much on fast scares, but creates the atmosphere slowly. I often see long films for which I would like an earlier ending, but for this film I would have liked a little more length. The cinematography of the film is really beautiful and there is a feeling of autumn everywhere. However, I am satisfied with this as well. The final scene is also quite ingenious in my opinion. I Recommend!

Amazing racing movie!
1 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've been quite fond of racing movies and I think there will be a demand for them in the future as well. Especially if the movie is based on the 70s or 80s, or even the early 90s. Rush tells the story of James Hunt and Niki Lauda. In the film, they are opposites of each other. Hunt is wild and carefree. Lauda is calculating and analytical. The film is confusingly accurate in its telling of the 1976 championship game.

Right now I'm listening to Niki Lauda's biography as an audiobook and things fall together very well with this movie. I re-watched this movie today, August 1st, 2023 and on this date it will be exactly 47 years since Lauda was seriously injured in the German GP with severe burns. I like the acting in the film. Daniel Brühl is like Lauda in an obvious way. Chris Hemsworth gives a wonderful interpretation of James Hunt. This movie is well constructed. It's a really entertainingly built package. The time period is wonderfully conveyed in this film. A lot of effort has been put into the staging and the cars. Everything I see is believable. I really believe I see the events of 1976 in the movie.

The film is wonderfully shot and edited. Danger and speed are always present. At that time, death was more present in racing. In this film, it also becomes clear. A very dangerous thing to do with the racing cars of that era. I recommend this movie to fans of live racing and to anyone who is interested in racing from the 70s.

Stick It (2006)

A feel-good movie.
4 July 2023
The beginning of the movie was quite surprising and I wasn't quite sure what I was going to watch next. Everything became clear a little later. Technically well-made film, very modern cinematography and wonderfully executed. Missy Peregrym does a good role as a rebellious but talented gymnast. Jeff Bridges is in the film in a somewhat surprising role. He also performs very well. The movie is a feel-good movie. I bravely took the movie from my collection and put it in the player. Sometimes it's worth trying without prejudice. Watch this if you want to cheer up your everyday life. You might be surprised.

The Shark movie
4 July 2023
Steven Spielberg's film classic relies on old-time thrills and brilliant cinematography. The film is extremely well constructed. The beginning almost resembles the tradition of Alfred Hitchcock films. Where is the shark? Did I see it on the screen that others don't? Great work. The film is in a way two parts. In the first part, a shark threatens the community and is taking the summer tourist dollars. The second part is dedicated to shark hunting. The shark is menacing and intelligent. That wonderful monster made with old-school practical effects. CGI was not used at that time. After almost 50 years, the film is really fresh and a timeless classic.

Good film even it is the weakest in the series.
29 June 2023
Time flies. I went to see this movie 15 years ago in the cinema. I just watched it again, yesterday I had seen the latest and last part The Dial of Destiny. Maybe we wouldn't have needed this movie. I think the strongest part of the movie is definitely the beginning of the movie. It's really interesting. It feels like a lot of effort was invested in this beginning. The film kind of breaks the illusion I've been living with. Now too many CGI effects and Green Screen are used, and I don't find them particularly convincing. In addition, the film has a strange light distortion. I mean, I prefer to see decent practical effects in more natural lighting. At the end of the film, the plot slows down a bit and nothing is really justified. That's just what happens in the end. Among the characters in the film, Mutt Williams is a bit of a useless addition. He just appears in the picture suddenly. There is humor in the film, but it doesn't quite work like before. But anyway, I had fun with this movie. It just feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.

Great Finale
28 June 2023
This Indiana Jones movie was a tribute to the fans of the movie. I have always liked movies where imagination is used richly. Everything is possible in movies. Harrison Ford is naturally the biggest star of the film. Of course, there are important characters from other parts of the film series. I think the movie got off to a slow start. The opening is also not the best in the film series. The best starting part is still in the last crusade. In the film, we moved forward in time to the 60-70s, corresponding to the real passage of time. Indiana Jones still has enemies in this movies. Actually, the same manifestation of evil that he has often fought against. But then the best part. The end of the film was something really amazing and unprecedented in the film series. You have to see it for yourself. With a smile on my face, I can say that this was a good movie and a great ending to the series...

Amazing movie by De Niro.
29 May 2023
A very good film that all film lovers should see. Robert De Niro does a phenomenally good role again. This is also his directorial debut.

The son of a working-class family finds himself in a special situation and later gets to know a local crime boss. He then has to balance between his family and his new godfather's family.

The era of the film was believable. Clothing and the environment in general were well taken into account.

The movie has great themes. Right and wrong, respect for work and respect for others. I think this is a movie that deserves more discussion. Also worth mentioning is a cameo role that really surprised me. Big recommendations.

Earthquake (1974)

Very good Earthquake-movie
2 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
An exceptionally good disaster film from the 70s. The first part of the film is a primer on the plot and getting to know the characters. There are many well-known actors in the film, the most famous of which are, of course, Charlton Heston and Ava Gardner.

When the destruction is finally unleashed, it is elegantly created. I have said this many times and I still say it. A decent practical effect, even if a bit clumsy, is more ambitious and even better than CGI. Considering the age of the film, it still looks handsome.

The movie is really exciting at times. It also introduces a National Guard member named Jody (Marjoe Gortner) who has also worked at the store. He is the genuinely creepy guy in the movie. One of the best disaster movies of the 70s. The end of the film is also memorable and brave. How do people act to save their loved ones?

OK or average 40s end movie.
1 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was ok or mediocre. The beginning of the film was a bit confusing and it was a bit unclear to me if it was just symbolic. The movie gets going and the characters are introduced. Stallone is the clear lead character. He plays a traditional and confident role. Not the best Stallone, but nothing more was required. The timeline is completely believable. Cars, clothing, alleys. It is entirely believable that these characters live in the late 1940s. The characters are a bit cartoonish and it is very clear who the "villains" are. A three-part drama has been developed into the story. The film's direction and cinematography are functional. Slow motion is also used, as it should be in a big wrestling show. The end of the film is rather long and there seems to be no reason for the action to continue because you can already guess the end from the story. However, this is definitely worth checking out. Let's keep in mind that this was made right before Rocky II. Paradise Alley is clearly a single film and does not need a sequel.
