A Christmas Story Christmas (2022)
A very worthy sequel
I was expecting to be totally disappointed in this and while it isn't going to win any Oscars, it was heartwarming and very enjoyable. It touches a spot in all us middle aged folks who have lost a parent and subsequently reconnect with our old friends and family in our hometown. This movie ties in a lot of the old stuff - mercifully not the lamp - but a lot of funny new moments that were laugh out loud funny. It was especially good that most of the old actors reprised their roles, it was great to see how everyone grew up and that Scott Farkus wasn't such a bad guy after all. All in all, a great stroll down memory lane.
The Big Brunch (2022)
Finally reality TV worth watching
Loved this show mainly because it was quality humans doing quality things. No contrived drama, no drunken fights or mishaps, no backstabbing or conniving. It was relaxing to see good people doing good things. We pulled for all of them because there was no villain. Dan Levy, Sola and Will were a delight to watch and also genuinely cared about the contestants. The food created looked amazing, the set design was very clever and the special guests were good picks. If you're looking for a relaxing show to watch with your coffee on a chilly Sunday morning, this is it. Best cooking show I've seen, can't wait for season 2.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021)
Just go see it
If you grew up in the 80s, wearing the Halloween costume and sing RPJ, just go see it. It was fun and funny with just the right touch of nostalgia. Enjoy!
Crawlspace (2016)
Creepy
But mostly in an underage teenage girl exploitation kind of way. The character is in high school but had to have an extended gratuitous scene of her undressing / changing clothes while creepy dude (not a spirit, a living person) watches. The rest of the movie is just stupid and predictable. Overall, the whole movie sucks; I could have read a book or taken a nap.
The Stand (2020)
Disappointing
This is my all time favorite story. I have read the book at least 10 times. Waited over a year for this to come out.
I'm 1.5 episodes in and am super disappointed. I think those who haven't read the book will have no idea what's going on. Wayne Stucky was a great guy and a better friend in the book and a douche in this adaptation. A coffee truck in Boulder? Waited 25+ years for this.
*sigh*
