Supernatural

Is a good show with potential to be better if given a chance. The characters definitely play well against each other, there's good chemistry there. The idea of taking urban legends and myths of small towns is well done, and with a little more effort from the writers, this show could become top notch. The actors are very good, and the scenes are pretty authentic.

The story of two brothers in search of their father, in search of monsters/ghosts and things that go bump in the night, and at the same time in search of themselves is a good ploy. Not to mention, these guys haven't seen each other for years and now need to do some catch up. You can sense the different worlds they grew up in, as sometimes they have a difficult time in relating to each other. One will mention something that will totally go over the other's head. Different pasts.

Supernatural is definitely not a time waster, and a heck of a lot better than most of the shows on TV right now.

Not that good, but not that bad

Warning: Spoilers
As a fan of horror movies and bizarre movies, I've watched quite a few from the most horrid that makes me wonder why I waste my time on such trash, to the excellent that revives my faith in the movie world. This movie would fall about in between. Not very memorable, yet it did have that certain something that keeps you thinking about it after it is done. What I got from the story and the dialog, is that Jake never really knew if his day mares were real, or just his imagination. Were they visions or hallucinations? When the store was robbed and the owner swore it was Jake, having previewed the tape earlier, it was strange that the tape showed the owner himself stealing, so, we knew, or thought we knew that the game was controlling situations. For all the killings, they seemed murder/suicide, but Jake didn't seem to be involved, which didn't really mean he wasn't.

However, at the end, when Jake wakes up in the middle of with blood in his mouth, dead people around and he trying to figure out, did he do all the killings, and were the day mares just his way of escaping from the truth of what he was doing, or did it really happen and he's now paying the price of being the demon's son? Kind of funky. I gave it a 7 for original idea, but it could have been better told.

Quirky little show
24 February 2004
I finally found a dvd on this movie on Amazon.com. Of course I had to buy it since I've been looking for it for years. I had forgotten how good it really is. The acting is excellent, the show itself is a bit quirky, but totally enjoyable. I had forgotten Pete Duel was in this. I'd recommend it to anyone.

wanted to see about vhs or dvd
17 February 2004
I remember watching this a long time ago. I really liked it and was trying to see if it was on vhs or dvd on the net. I have always liked Gene Wilder and this was one of the quirky movies that really made an impression on me. Too bad I never recorded it.
