Worst movie I've seen this year
6 December 2021
While Cumberbatch plays his character exquisitely, it's a complete waste of talent due to there being absolutely no storyline to follow. No backstory on the characters and way too much left to the imagination. It would have been better as a 15 minute short film. Slow is an understatement. Nothing happens. Save yourself two hours and skip it.

Snake Eyes (2021)

Ignore all bad reviews - this is an awesome movie
25 August 2021
I'm seeing reviews saying Snake Eyes is average with 'okay' action, and that it's generic. Get over yourselves. This is an awesome origin story of Snake Eyes, a character I loved when I was huge into GI Joe as a kid. The action in this move is fantastic, especially if you are a fan of the show Warrior or old Kung Fu Theater movies.

The acting is excellent, and the story keeps you engaged. Did I mentions some fantastic action?

One-sided documentaries aren't very good
8 January 2021
Even if you have nice production value and a nice looking documentary, it's not a real documentary when it only tells one side of the story. This was simply done to devalue one of the greatest Presidents in history. None of Reagan's many accomplishments are discussed, including a booming economy and fantastic foreign relations. If you can't be objective and present both sides, then don't make the film.

Solid show that could be better with tweaks
14 July 2020
I enjoyed the story, and the main character is played very well. A few side characters aren't well acted, but not a big deal. The story would play much better if the sister warriors were more serious and disciplined about what they are doing. People who train and fight are very disciplined and serious about their craft.

A small army of nuns chosen to fight for God would be even more so. They would also have a strict code of conduct. The cursing in houses of worship just wouldn't happen and comes off pretty ridiculous. It takes away from the realism and keeps you from getting as sucked in.

Definitely worth watching, but could've been better.

Already one of my favorites of 2020
5 April 2020
Please ignore all reviews saying this movie is "preachy". Yes, it has themes about faith in God, but it's very well done and not the main story line. It's a true story, a heartbreaking story that will make you cry, but also leave you feeling full of hope at the end. The two leads are fantastic. Beautiful story. Easily the best movie I've watched so far in 2020.

The Last Cowboy (2019– )

Solid work by Taylor Sheridan
8 August 2019
First of all, Reining is NOT horse abuse, as one goofball put in a review. Great care is taken with these horses, and they are treated with respect. Horses are happiest when they have a job, whether that is trail riding, working cattle or performance. These horses are top-notch athletes and beautiful to watch.

The Last Cowboy is well done, and it doesn't get lost in the minutia. It's easy enough to follow for novice horse folks, but detailed enough for those that live in the horse world. Very entertaining. Would love to see more TV centered on equines.

Had loads of potential but didn't live up to expectations
31 March 2019
Pacing is painful at times due to many scenes being much longer than they needed to be. This movie could've easily been 1 hr 50 min instead of 2 hr 35 min. Would've made it much more enjoyable. You get enough info for everything to make sense, but not enough info on any particular character for you to be invested in what happens to them. Unfortunate, because it could have been so much better.

So much wasted promise
20 January 2019
Great cast and some nice cinematography at times. Unfortunately, it's downhill from there. The story is just on the surface, and never pulled me in. The pacing is all over the place. There were some decent moments, but few and far between, and too many lengthy boring periods. I'm a huge fan of westerns and have a large collection of them, but this one isn't staying in it. Really unfortunate. I see other reviews that call this movie "gritty" or a "throwback", and that's nonsense. This wants to be a revisionist western at times, but doesn't come close. The comedic moments fall flat. It's just a mess really. I almost didn't finish it.

Started well but couldn't keep it rolling
19 November 2018
The first 17 minutes were the highlight, and it went downhill from there. That first segment, "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs", was excellent. I could watch an entire movie based on that character, played extremely well by Tim Blake Nelson. It was interesting and funny.

"Near Algodones" kept me interested, and I enjoyed the characters, but there was no take away, so it kind of fell flat.

"Meal Ticket" was worthless and should have been cut altogether. It was extremely boring and sad.

"All Gold Canyon" and "The Gal Who Got Rattled" were enjoyable and interesting. Good characters and beautiful cinematography. Both segments kept my interest.

"The Mortal Remains" had some interesting dialogue but it fell off and didn't seem to have a point.

So one segment was fantastic, three others were pretty good, and two were completely forgettable. A mixed bag, but I generously give it a 6/10.

Quite a mess and nothing like the trailer portrays
15 July 2018
I hate anticipating a film based on the trailer, and then getting a totally different experience when watching the film. The movie is nothing like the trailer portrays it. The plot is never flushed out, characters aren't developed, tons of loose ends throughout the film, and an awful ending. There were some things that kept me intrigued enough to stick with it to the end, but then I was thoroughly disappointed, as the story really never went anywhere.

Painful garbage of a movie
22 September 2015
The movie was garbage any way you slice it. There wasn't anything "confusing" about it. It was just a dumb story, and painfully slow.

The funny parts weren't that funny. The film needed to get over itself. It was trying to be something it didn't live up to.

There was no need for certain characters to even be in the film. They simply added noise. It was extra dialogue for no reason other than to try and take the viewer down a rabbit hole for a moment.

The entire main plot didn't even matter...it had no point. And the subplots only loosely related, so there was nothing to hold the film together.

You can try to make this movie out as some smart vision about a generation, but that's just a cop out. It was garbage, and everyone needs to admit it.
