Solid Entry, HORRIBLE Music!
13 September 2021
This is yet another solid, well done and mostly enjoyable entry in the McBride series, with a good plot. I love John LaRoquette and his sidekick Matt Lutz. The real drag in this series continues to be the inane, irrelevant, truly horrible "music" by Ewan Johns, which has nothing to do with what's going on!

One Of The Best

I found this to be one of the best episodes in Season 1. It held my attention throughout, and the script and acting are compelling. The only downside is the truly awful, obtrusive, and irrelevant "music" playing most of the time, but I found it less bothersome than it is in previous episodes.

One Of The Best McBride Movies
7 September 2021
I'm very fond of LaRoquette and most of the movies in the McBride series, and this is one of the best. There is one caveat for me, however, and that is the obtrusive, mostly plagiarized, and often irrelevant "music" playing in the background; sometimes the volume level is so high for it that I have trouble hearing the actors. Otherwise, this is good viewing!

One Of The Best Episodes

This is hands down one of the best of all Midsomer episodes. I was riveted and kept guessing from start to finish. Highly recommended!

I Stopped Watching The Series With This Episode
5 September 2021
OK, the series started well and I enjoyed the first three episodes. Episode 5 was a real fall-off and this one was even worse. What makes it truly horrible is the too loud, monotonous and repetitive "music" that plays throughout. It is a direct steal from Thomas Newman's soundtrack for AMERICAN BEAUTY, but a hack job by a hack "composer." What were they thinking to hire someone so untalented? If I were Newman I'd sue Ewan Johns. I won't watch any more episodes.

The Plagiarized Music Is A Real Distraction
5 September 2021
Laroquette is always worth watching, even in what I consider to be the worst McBride episode of all, but what is really aggravating is the monotonous "music" that is playing so loud during some of the scenes that I have to strain to hear the dialogue. Moreover, this two note theme is a direct steal from Thomas Newman's soundtrack to AMERICAN BEAUTY; if I were Newman, I would sue Ewan Johns, the "composer" for the McBride series. The only reason I gave it three stars was for LaRoquette.
