Legendary!
17 November 2023
There are only a few cinematic achievements that truly make historic marks in Hollywood history. Even fewer fall into both miniseries and historical categories. Above all others, Band of Brothers stands alone as one of the greatest stories ever filmed. Put this story on your list under "Must watch before you die", and I promise you won't regret it. It's an incredible experience of true heroism, bravery, drama, camaraderie, and the inspiring men who gave everything for their country. Make it a part of your life as it will live on in history forever. Like most of us, I'm sure it will become something you'll want to pass on to future generations.

I've definitely seen worse.
22 October 2022
A creature/horror movie with a theme similar to "The Descent".

Compared to other franchise horror films I've seen recently, this film actually maintained an attempt to be scary. Unfortunately, it comes up short in several areas. First off the plot is very thin with very little substance or story development. Second, the overall acting of the cast is a joke. You can't really root for or relate to anyone. The biggest problem is the creatures themselves. Not only is it impossible to get a clear look at them, but there's practically no explanation for what they really are or anything else about them. If not for the few moments of creepy suspense, this film would have been a total failure.

Still, some of the more recent horror films that came out in 2022 were total disasters. At least this film had enough frights to pass for scary. If there's a possibility for a sequel(doubt it), this story has a LOT of rough edges to work out.

Would I recommend this to other horror fans?

Only if they have an acute fear of dark settings, otherwise no.

As disappointing as expected.
17 October 2022
Years ago, when Disney purchased Marvel, I was convinced it would lead to the downfall of Marvel's darker stories. For a while nobody noticed. Any Avengers, Spider-Man, or other superhero movies were so successful that nobody cared. Even the original series were good enough to distract audiences from the inevitable.

Unfortunately, there were still a few elements Disney chose to ignore. Since the takeover, the Punisher has faded out, Ghost Rider is gone, and Blade has been almost forgotten. Disney has gone to great lengths to make people forget the "darker" side of Marvel Comics.

Now we have THIS crap! My expectations weren't very high to begin with. At the very least I hoped for a "Tim Burton" style of movie. Instead, we got 52 minutes of empty potential. To call this a horror/darker marvel movie is just a joke. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because it felt like 40% of an actual movie. It's basically the proof I've been dreading these past few years. Disney is gradually DESTROYING Marvel.

2022 has become the WORST year for new horror movies.

Two hours I can't get back.
15 October 2022
Halloween USED to be a popular franchise, considered a "must see" for any true horror fans, respected by generations of frightened audiences.

Unfortunately, the last two decades have produced sequels that have become more and more EMBARRASSING to the franchise itself. This film is BY FAR the absolute WORST Halloween movie I've ever seen.

I'm left asking myself "Why does creator John Carpenter continue making it worse?" The only logical answer is he stopped giving a crap about it a long time ago. Like him, the Halloween films are old. Irrelevant, and completely empty of the quality they once had. The franchise name is literally the only life support keeping it going.

Don't let the title fool you. It all should have "ended" twenty years ago.

Trailer trap!
11 September 2022
If you watch the trailer for this film, you get the impression it's a "Survival Drama". That gets masculine audience members interested. Unfortunately, you'll discover that there's a badly written romance involved. Even the fans of romantic stories will notice how unconvincing the social chemistry is between the two main characters. Considering it's Elba and Winslet, that's a surprising disappointment.

Don't get lured in by what this film pretends to be. Even A-list actors have "bombs" in their careers. Although I'd blame this one on the studio promoters.

I would have given it a lower score, but the dog and the cinematography were actually worth enjoying. To be honest, this film wasn't even worth a theater release. It should have been a "straight to video" movie that most of us could ignore as it ends up in the Walmart bargain bin.

Not great but...
9 September 2022
I'll admit this movie didn't have a well written story. In fact, some plot points were pretty lazy and downright silly. However, I did laugh a LOT, I cheered a few times, there were a few great surprises, Bale's character was SO creepy, and I thought it had a good ending.

Compared to some other new movies in the past year, I'd say Thor: Love and Thunder was one of the few I've found to be very entertaining. Sometimes a good movie doesn't need to be a "thought provoking blockbuster" to be worth the money.

Ok, apparently I have to add more for this review to be long enough to submit. Hopefully this is enough.

I was wrong.
29 August 2022
I know now after seeing this movie that I will never be a Tom Cruise fan. However, my initial impression of this sequel has definitely changed. I saw the first one in the theater in 1986. Since then I've seen it enough times to be pretty sick of it AND it's star. So when I heard that they were making this sequel I wasn't looking forward to it. That being said I'm proud to say that I REALLY enjoyed this movie. The filmmakers went above and beyond my expectations to create one of the best sequels I've ever seen.

Cruise will always be a celebrity (not an actor) to me. Although this film has earned my respect for him and it's legacy.

Could have been better
2 June 2021
To be honest this was a little better than I expected. Bigfoot movies are typically a joke. However, this one had some surprisingly solid elements; a decent hero, fair monster, a little suspense, great filming location, and a good story formula. Unfortunately, it's biggest downfalls we're in the details. The character development was full of holes and certain scenes bordered on ridiculous. Obviously some parts were ripped off from other action films. At least the potential for a sequel got me curious.

It's definitely not the worst Bigfoot monster film out there. It just leaves you thinking it had more potential than it lived up to.

A Disgrace!
4 July 2020
Of all the comic book movies ever made, this was by far the most embarrassing. Stan Lee himself refused to appear in it, and he was the original creator. You don't even have to be a fan or familiar with the story to see all the obvious flaws. For the F4 fans, it wasn't even close to the same story. Casting wasn't thought through, the plot was too thin too often, and overall continuity was practically nonexistent. Any comic book fan can tell you what their least favorite superhero film was, but this one was just too horrible to make the "worst" list. Michael B. Jordan survived it, while everyone else should pretend they had nothing to do with making it.

Nothing's changed

Warning: Spoilers
In the film, as the historical details dictate, the British scientists treat the two main characters as fools with insults a cynicism. In reality, so-called critics ignore the the film's quality and plot simply to attack the female casting choice. They claim some right to point out historical inaccuracies they only read on some website. These people want any excuse to act sexist anonymously and only succeed in missing out on a good movie. Congratulations society! We haven't learned a damn thing. At least the sexist Brits in the movie dressed better than most of today's closet-case web bullies.

TGIO!
11 April 2020
For the first time in my life, I actually walked out of the theater during a Star Wars movie. The only reason I gave it three stars was out of respect for the franchise. Friends told me later how it ended but I didn't care. I've seen every Star Wars movie on the big screen since 1978. My parents introduced me to the series when I was young and I've taken my own kids to see them since The Force Awakens. These last two films have tragically taken the saga in all the wrong directions. I'm left now feeling disappointed by how the franchise has ended, but THANK GOD it's all over. I don't think I can stand to see it get any worse. At least Rogue One and The Mandalorian are really great, and they're not even part of the main story. If anything, I hope this last film serves as a reminder to all filmmakers to know when to quit and to avoid running other franchises into the ground.

Lacking character
9 March 2020
I can forgive the fact that Live-Action means more realism and less colorful detail. I can also appreciate the breathtaking scale of cinematography. Hell, even the music was good. Unfortunately, despite having an all-star cast, this movie had NOTHING resembling the vocal personality or charm of the original film. Even James Earl Jones reprisal as Mufasa was sadly disappointing. Every character in the original film was clearly defined by memorable voice performances. Nobody in this version really tried at all. I haven't heard anything this flat since I saw an American drama dubbed in German. If anything, The Lion King 2019 should be a cautionary lesson to all voice actors in what NOT to do to a highly anticipated movie. Even the smallest flaws can ruin a potentially great movie.

Real AND entertaining.
27 May 2019
Obviously the animation and sci-fi theme of this film are appealing. However, it's the moral and emotional aspects of the story that are surprising. Grief, friendship, villainy, and heroism unfold in very relatable ways throughout. Unfortunately, the main character Mia comes across with too much angst and her blind recklessness can be a bit over the top. Overall, the lines between good and evil, justice and revenge, or just really honest friendships are clearly educational to any audience. I would definitely recommend this film for families to enjoy.
