Great film for any day
25 November 2023
I was ten years old when Star Wars entered the world, and it was unlike anything I'd ever seen, and it still holds up. It's a great story with cutting-edge visuals. The only thing I don't like about the current version is the George Lucas CG additions, specifically scenes in Mos Eisley. And the Han/Jabba the Hut. These silly additions do not enhance the story and only distract the viewers. I was excited for the re-released in the mid-1990s but came away disappointed and yearning for the originals. Now, with "free" viewing on Disney+, choosing between the original or Lucas CG editions would be nice. I still treasure the original three...well, maybe not the Forests of Endor...

Cruella (2021)

Absolutely Stunning
28 June 2021
This is hands down the BEST Disney film I've seen in years and has the best soundtrack I've ever heard. Emma Stone is hypnotic as Cruella, Emma Thompson is delightfully wicked. The ancillary characters are very strong, as well. This film should received multi Oscar nods for acting, fashion, cinematography, and direction. The films' only drawbacks were the iffy CGI Dalmatians and particular animal references to skunks and raccoons that most outside the UK would never pick up on; neither animal is found in the UK.

The Walking Dead: Here's Negan (2021)

Best of the end
5 April 2021
I haven't thought much of the bonus episodes as none advanced the story forward, were all pretty boring, and none of the stories made me care for gave me any further insight into he characters. Having never read the comics, I always felt Negan had a sad backstory and this episode hit it out of the park. I imagine Season 11 will bring the Maggie/Negan story along with a slow burn, culminating in an explosive episode. I look forward to it.

Struggling to be good
15 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This story line is struggling. Alfe Woodard may be an Oscar nominee but her "surprise" acting is just horrible. And Mariah's and Shade's "relationship" is just horrible to watch as they have little to no chemistry. That relationship really drags down the rest of the story line.

The positive side of the episode is Luke's and his Dad's repaired relationship. They do a nice job of a son and other struggling to connect, to recognise, and accept the faults of each.

Just bad in nearly every way

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was a true disappointment given the cast and director. When you see Michael Douglas, Ewan McGregor, Bill Paxton, you know of think, "Hey, this might be good." Unfortunately, even they couldn't save it and honestly, didn't even try. It fell flat on its fight scenes as they were just wooden performances, its storyline was a mess. A super spy kidnaps some guy that lends her a hand during a fight in a cafe then spills all the backstory of why someone just tried to kill her? Her pleading with a cop, telling him who she is, offering a drivers license number to confirm her story? Maybe it is unfair to be so hard on this effort but I found Hanna (both movie and tv series) much more enjoyable as the stories had better flow and the action never seemed forced.
