The Walking Dead: Swear (2016)
Sloppy, pointless and boring AF
Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy! Terrible acting, terrible directing, terrible editing, etc, etc. There is not one redeemable quality in this episode. The character development of Tara is way too late and TBH unnecessary. The writers and producers should be developing the main story arc, the characters and most of all Negan. Instead we get this extended length episode about Tara finding some hidden camp that had been decimated by The Saviors. That would have been a redeemable quality IF the director had focused on that part of the story and not the "sand zombies" that can't seem to bite anyone.
I'm not sure what's going on but ever since Scott Gimple, Greg Nicotero and Gale Hurd took over the show has been slowly losing its way and I've lost interest in this series. What happened to them saying that Season 7 will "blow you away" or "the best season yet". BS! TWD had one over the top season premier and now seems to be stretching the pain and suffering of the survivors too long without giving any hope to the viewers that things will get better. As someone who's read TWD comics I can tell you that I didn't feel this hopeless watching these characters slowly being taken apart by Negan's followers. The TV show interpretation is miserable and not easy to watch.
If i was an EP on this show I'd fire every writer and start over.
Fear the Walking Dead: Date of Death (2016)
One episode left in me
I'm trying so hard to stick with this show but after this episode I'm not sure if I can anymore. The episode ends up being a continuity mess with Travis leaving Chris, seeing the lights at the hotel and making it through the refugees that stand between him and the gate. Then we focus on Travis coping with his son being a deranged psycho for way too long. All the while a "mob" is trying to push their way into the hotel property. That's it, that's what the whole episode is about.
FTWD has lost its way and is now circling the drain of mediocrity and might have 1 season left in the tank. The writing is flat, acting is weak and the Madison character is a complete disaster. Between Alicia and Madison the writers should have had a field day with stories they could have told but instead we get the overbearing mother with a millennial daughter story retold (blah blah blah); neither of which make for good TV.
Here's how you fix the show: Kill off Alicia and/or Madison and Travis. Focus the story on Chris transforming into a "Negan" like character and Nick transforming into a strong leader of the post-apocalyptic world. What about Victor? Well they need to turn him back into a "Wolf" like he was in S1 and be done with the whole hotel story. Ugh.
Fear the Walking Dead: Pablo & Jessica (2016)
The only thing we have to fear is cancellation
Weak, weak, WEAK! Come on AMC you can do better than this crap. Zero suspense, rehashed herding technique and using a splash of blood on your face to confuse walkers is WAY OVER DONE. The only two characters that are worth watching at this point is Nick and Chris. Victor was awesome in the first season and OK in the first half of S2 but lately he's just been a shadow of his former awesomeness. Alicia is kinda getting better but she's still a whiny little brat. The only thing I fear in this show is the fear that this might be the last season of FTWD. The writers should just focus on Chris coming to terms that he was meant to live in the apocalypse and Nick using his drug skills to control the Oxycontin distribution. Put those two characters together and you got Negan; which would be bad a**!
