Having eaten with Jim in Paris a half dozen or more times, I can tell you he was as genuine as a person could be. The food was always tasty, with a vegetarian option, and all of the boxed wine you could drink. There was a suggested donation of 30-Euros, but one could pay what they could afford. In inclement weather, the numbers were limited to maybe 50 or 60, and in the summer, it could run to 100 or more, as the group could spill out into the garden. It might include Africans in flowing Robes or Australians in Bush Hats, or Scots in Tweed; you never knew. Jim trained in languages and spent his evenings listening to Russian transmissions during the Cold War, in Scotland: night duty allowed daytime education at Edinburgh University. He requested early leave from the Air Force, and continued school in Edinburgh, and one day met a young student named Jane Quigley, later known as Jane Alexander, the Academy Award nominated actor, who he called the flower of Edinburgh Theater. He opened a groundbreaking Paperback bookstore where he offered free coffee and joked about visitors that stole books after having coffee. His accomplishments included a theater, called the Traverse, which encouraged avant-garde productions. If you are a traveler, you should watch this documentary.

This movie is an edge of the seat type experience. It is formulaic, but the formula has worked forever, and the screenwriter throws enough curve balls, to make it original. Nobody in this film is perfect, as it is in life. I saw a Question and Answer session with 9 of the crew members and they are all dedicated to the craft in a way that leads me to believe that this writer/ director Blayne Weaver is going somewhere good. The cinematography and film editing were exceptional. Tim Smith, stuntman and actor also has a future…..He was wonderful….

This show has a tremendous amount to convey about the wine industry. Its follow up on Television is called Uncorked. Both push the Sommelier job title into the same stratosphere that had been reserved for chefs. Sideways made wine tasting and discussion an acceptable pastime. Winery tours are must do side trips. In Sideways, Miles is pretentious and opinionated on wine. These people are what Miles wants to be. The movie includes Bo Barrett, the son of a legendary California wine maker at Château Montelena, in the movie Bottle Shock. I was fortunate to see SOMM before attending the Introductory Level course of the Guild. These guys and gals really are good. The tests are very difficult. And when they finally pass they get paid handsomely....and they deserve to be....

Marie Bunel as Françoise Bellamy is the real keeper in this movie. In a world where nothing is as it seems, she is just as much an enigma. The scenery is the second best co-star in this flick.

The movie does move slow and if Gérard Depardieu gets any fatter he won't fit on the television screen. It will become a requirement that his movies must be watched at the cinema.

His performance is uninspiring. Save this movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon.

What would you expect for a man that sums himself up by saying, "I'm not a monster, I'm just a man who wants to pee."

This show is well developed, just like Spooks and MI-5. I had to buy it in Region Two format, but I already had a multi-region because I watch Spooks and Dalziel and Pascoe too. It is every-bit as enjoyable as Spooks series 1-8, waiting on Series 9. The cinematography is good and the Brit chicks are sexy as always. The concept of London after a nuclear explosion is a bit far fetched. I would have been interested if this was only about a different department, not new folks in a different world. With the recent dearth of good US based cops shows, this is a well needed respite. I keep hoping Harry, Roz or one of the old gang will show up, but the episode guides hints that they won't. Keep up the good work guys.

This movie is very weak. The title is Sex and the City. New York is one of the main characters and it is missing in action. The addition of Abu Dhabi must have been some type of product placement decision, as it made no sense- other products were rampant. This may have killed the franchise. The girls are getting a little long in the tooth and the lighting was not very flattering. Mr. Big was at his best...Charlotte was played perfectly....Miranda was sexy as usual....Carrie was too biatchy for me. Samantha didn't do it for me...sorry. I would not even recommend that you watch it on HBO....it is a waste of time....I was a huge fan of the series....Maybe this is why there is not Soprano's movie....

New Tricks is a wonderful Brit cop show. After you get used to BBC shows it hard to go back to the crap that American TV produces. The characters are stable throughout the multi year run and they have great chemistry. This show is one of many that I recommend, including Murphy's Law, Murder City, Life on Mars, MI-5, Dr. Who, Torchwood and Primeval. US shows like Numb3rs and NCIS may rival them, but we can learn a lot from the Brits. I've just ordered my second multi-region DVD player because the last four years of Tricks has not come out in the US. The good thing is the episodes are usually fuller and richer on the international DVDS. Come on BBC, give us some more good stuff.

This movie is not worth watching. I can best explain it as Godzilla meets Blair Witch and Dr. Strangelove. The persons that rated it as a ten must be on drugs. The theater was almost empty at the start and the feedback among patrons after the show was consistent. This show is a real waste of time. The sound is way too loud and out of control. The special effects are adequate, but why waste the technology to make this junk. Get a job or do some volunteer work, don't go to Cloverfield. It would be time well spent compared with watching this. I bet that if a poll were done that less than 1% would sit through this again. I would rather watch Milo and Otis again, or was it Otis and Milo....RR
