I have my fair share of artsy films... Good or bad, and also commercial ones too.

This movies gets a 2 because of the artistic side of it. I see the director is trying to make the shocking/graphic movie, but it just not done enough like old boy or irreversible... But it is just not well executed!

It's just not enough... So so so slow... Story itself is not interesting enough to carry out such a slow pace.

Commercially, I am very glad I did not go to the movie theater to watch this, I doubt I'll be able to sit through it. I can barely sit through the movie at my house. They keep have this base tone of sound that reminds me of shutter island but just doesn't have the same effect.

Just, not a good movie in many aspects, the story, the director and the actors... Sad to say that. And bad special effect too, but especially the scene the old man cut the guys left eye that's all zoom-in, my god that was bad!

I came a crossed this movie by accident on Netflix. Went in to the movie, all I know was the main character is Colin Firth. 15 seconds into the movie, I am already impressed with how beautiful the graphics is, I myself being a graphic designer/photographer, I had to see who is the director. And I am surprised and not too surprised it's Tom Ford. I am surprised cuz I have no idea he direct movies, not surprised because it is very Tom Ford, their photography is always stunning. Throughout the movie, the set, the costume, the makeup, the styling, all impeccable!!! That has to be a lot of work and it shows! I searched and apparently it's the same group of people that did Mad men, the quality just really draw my attention. The movie itself is intense at times, I wouldn't say it's the best film or the most interesting story, but again, it's very beautiful and Colin Firth is a great actor that pull the whole story together.

Overall definitely worth the time watching it. Good job Tom Ford!

Nice wardrobe and Adrien Broody made a very convincing bull fighter. And Penelope Cruz is very beautiful. However the movie just didn't turn out interesting or good enough.

I don't know if they just focus too little on his own struggle or what... Just... Not memorable! Gave it the 5 stars cuz of some cool footage, costume and the fact Adrien looks awesome as a bull fighter. Watched this on my Netflix when I was trying to kill time so can't really complain. By the way at the end of the movie I was a little confused when the young bull fighter was freaking out said he didn't sign up for it when Adrien was almost hugging the bull, what was that suppose to mean? And his own people wouldn't give him the sword. I guess he gave up cuz the girl left him? And she's a communist? Anyway I feel like there are a lot from the book that didn't tell we'll enough in this movie

I'm glad I didn't go to the theater for this. It's not that bad but I expected more thats for sure. Very predictable! I watch a lot of movie so might be jaded... Actually I don't think you need to watch a lot of movie to feel underwhelmed by this movie.

Not much excitement in the movie. Little bits and parts, but overall it's not that intense like the trailer(kudos for the ppl made the trailer I guess)

Nothing sexual in the movie, so I guess it's somehow family friendly.

Overall, I only rented this as blue-ray disk from redbox, sort of entertaining.
