Love Fever (1931)
A Chance to see Thelma Todd....
with somebody other than Patsy Kelly, Zasu Pitts, or the Marx Bros. Thank goodness TCM shows Hot Toddy's comedy shorts, otherwise I wouldn't get to see them. When one comes on, she always lit up the screen with her comedic charm & blonde beauty. No matter who she played opposite, she added her own worthy contributions.
This short was another example of how she seemed to be able to hold her own as a comedienne with all the others of the time....even if it was "the boyfriends". More's the pity her life was cut short, as she would've left us with many more celluloid moments to enjoy. But she left us with enough to continue to enjoy many years later.
One Step Beyond (1959)
Name of Episode?
Can anyone please name the episode with the German youths that flew glider planes before WWII, and one of the boys kills another out of jealousy, while he's sitting in the pilot's seat (unbeknownst to the rest of the group). They had agreed to meet up again after the war, and the one that had been murdered (his skeleton "flew" the plane to the appointed meeting spot, if I recall)also showed up at the rendezvous. That is the only OSB episode I can remember from childhood, & wondered if it was on any of the dvds.
Truly an eerie one.
Thanks.
The Ninth Gate (1999)
You Have to Admit....
Whether this movie is your cup of tea or not, as far as the movies the SciFi channel shows, this is one of the better ones than the usual tripe shown on that station. An actual murder mystery, with known actors, and no mutant bugs, giant sharks or gators, or other laughably bad special effects.
While I'm not a Johnny Depp fan, he does show his range as an actor, from his role in this, to Pirates of the Caribbean.
